“It helps put it in perspective, but it doesn’t take away the pain of the moment. Because these seniors deserve a chance to go to the Big Dance and to end their collegiate careers in a positive note. This is literally something outside their control that is dictating events and they have no choice but to comply.”
Fank Garza

“It’s extremely heartbreaking, especially being a parent of a senior and knowing the NCAA is most likely going to be the next to cancel,” Nancy Kriener said in a Twitter message to the Register before that formal announcement was made. “It’s every player’s dream to play in the NCAA Tourney — they work their whole lives for that chance and it feels like they are being cheated out of that work.”

I've got a feeling that when seniors graduate we're going to get quotes that will express their without fear of the NCAA.

What fear would a senior have of the NCAA? What would they say that would be different from what they would say now?

There is talk Seniors could get a 1 time waiver and play next year due to losing this chance. I think it makes sense. In Iowa's case, if RK and BE want to come back they should and if we have 15 rides so be it.

I dont see it happening for wrestling or basketball. Spring sports have an argument.

There is a chance that Evelyn and Kriener were only shorted 2 games if we were one and one in the B1G and NCAA tourneys. That doesnt warrant another full season of eligibility, IMO.

It makes sense unless you're currently a Jr, Soph, Freshmen or incoming recruit who would have their opportunities curtailed. Why should they take the hit? The minutes those returning players get have to come from somewhere...and they'd come from the other players on the roster who ALSO have worked for their opportunity.

As COOL pointed out above. For these Seniors we're talking about just a few games. For some, just 1 or 2. You'd be screwing the underclassmen out of a lot more than that.

And theres the rub. You can't screw everyone on the team and upset the whole system because the seniors missed out on a game or two. Stuff happens. Now as others have stated you had the entire season curtailed that would be something worth considering.

Not to mention the cascade affect. You'd have transfers, some players wanting out of their LOI, etc.

I heard earlier on the Score NCAA are considering winter sports as well as spring sports.. guess we’ll see

It really sucks for the seniors, I have one at a smaller school who will be cheated out of a spring season, but the winter sports, IMO are just SOL. As pointed out above, many of them missed two more games. I totally get the "importance" of those games, and the work put in to get there, but sometimes life just kicks you in the nards. This, sadly, looks like one of those times.

You want hs seniors season cut short and then lose pt next year too because some kids lost a couple games.
It’s college.

People also forget that these seniors are graduating. Many of them have jobs lined up. Would they even want to come back another year and delay the rest of their life. I don't know the answer here but I would guess many would not come back.
