I'm ready to see how this team performs in the conference games. MSU should provide us with a couple of glimpses as to how the other half lives.

YIKES, not a great way to open up the Season playing 2 of top 3 teams in the conference.

I think this team will take their lumps early on. Look for MSU to just get as physical as possible with Utoff and Jok. They will have their hands all over them and I just don't like Iowa's match-ups vs "athletic" teams. We are a little slow of foot and MSU guards are lightening quick.

I am hoping the home crowd can help the hawks and having a few days off gets them rested.

Actually, getting rested usually seems to portend slow starts for the Hawks. I wish they had another tune-up this weekend.

When we are allowed to flow and play in rhythm, Iowa is a very good team. Now the players need to show that they can also win ugly games. MSU has always been one of the best programs at making the other team play their game. Our best players need to step up and be the aggressor for 40 min. Valentine does a lot for MSU, so his loss should help.

Forbes will go all Travis Trice next week at Carver. I just do not like the match-up vs MSU.They are an elite program and they could lose their entire starting 5 and still come in and beat some teams.

The key to the game is Iowa's 3pt shooting. They are going to have to hit some 3's to stay in the game and also do not allow Forbes, Tum Tum or someone else to go off for 30+.

They're without an one of the best players on the country and almost lost to Oakland last night. Obviously Iowa still need to play well to win, but you must have thought we would lose by 30 if Valentine was playing.

I have seen enough of Izzo's teams over the years to know they will be a really tough out. It will be a close game that will come down to the wire.

Well we did lose in Carver (last year or two years ago?) when they were missing a guy or two and they soundly beat us. MSU will and should be favored. No better time to play them than now though. They just know how to win.

Ah I remembered that game differently. Maybe I was just too pissed to have any rational thought. In any case, just because they're missing Valentine doesn't mean they can't ugly up the game and beat us like they always do.

Costello & Schilling are my "big" concerns. Pun intended. Davis is the x factor. If Woody gets in foul trouble it will be a long game for us.

As I mentioned, the most important factor is the refs. If the game is called like it is supposed to be we have a very good chance. In fact, as with the Wisconsin prediction from this summer I'm going to buck the "it never happens" pattern and say Iowa is going to win.

Bryn Forbes is no Travis Trice. He's a good player, good shooter, but we can defend him. Trice was making anything he put up, regardless of difficulty.

I see Iowa jumping way ahead then giving up a small run before half to lead by 12 at half. They give up another 8 point run at the beginning of the 2nd half then pull back to a 25 point lead or so before falling apart and making it close in the last 6 minutes. It'll be a close final score, win or lose.
