Paul Burmeister - Voice of The Domers

Good for Paul. He’s built a great career. It’s got to be a cool honor within this profession to call games for ND.

Can’t wait for him to leave and replace Dolph some day.
If Iowa was more proactive, they would have gotten him earlier. IMO, Dolph is not good. But Iowa drags there feet on a lot of things. Coaches contract length is an example of someone not wanting to rock the boat.

I don’t think Paul would leave ND to come back to Iowa. Just my opinion

I’ve never heard him do football play by play, so I can’t sayi I wish he was doing our games. I like his commentary at the desk, seems like a good guy and a good host. When the time comes for dolph to go, I trust the athletic dept is in a different place than when he was hired and will get a really good talent (or two). As much as I’m ready for that day, my wife (who couldn’t care less about Iowa sports) likes his voice and thinks of him as kind of signal of fall. Not all bad - I won’t be pushing him out the door.

He’s done a really nice job with the TDF that last couple years. He does seem to get better with in the profession - kudos to him.

For those that don’t know, the TDF is Tour De France and Paul has done a great job with the other personalities on that set. I’m biased as a cyclist, one that enjoys it on TV, but he’s done well.

Not to be all Rose Colored Glasses but I'm sure that's how it will come across. 1) The Proactive you suggest would mean that Dolph would be fired prior hiring Paul. And I doubt that Burmeister would come to Iowa if he knew Dolph had to be fired first. 2) by coaches contract you mean KF right? Exactly what boat was there to rock?

Both KF and Fran. Bart’s puts out ridiculously long contracts with horrible buyouts for the University. That being said, I love KF and think Fran is a big upgrade from the previous two coaches.

Dolph is terrible at football and even worse at basketball play by play. The sad thing is, when he leaves, they’ll probably promote Rob Brooks.
I like Dolph the person as met him a few times at I-Club events... Dolph the announcer? I don't even listen to him call games... There are so many good announcers doing radio ... and sadly, I just don't think Dolph is one of them ...

Back to the original topic ... I forgot all about Paul B ... I enjoyed his previous work ... Good for him ...

Completely agree. Great guy and representative of the University, but a below average play by play.

He is a great guy and great ambassador for the athletic dept. Not so great with actual play by play. He is pretty good at filling time and ambiance radio, but awful at setting down, distance, time details. There was a BB game about 7 or 8 years ago that I listened to while driving across the state. He went a good 6 minutes of game time without telling the score.

Paul does a great job, and he has a lot of respect among players and coaches. He knows the game.

I remember watching him play at Iowa City West back in the day. He was one of the better QBs to ever come out of the MVC. He set records that Driscoll immediately broke. His teams were hapless though.

Well, if it was during the Lickliter era, then there was absolutely NO SCORING to report in any given 6 minute period. You didn't miss much.......

Disagree a little. His senior team was 3-6, but they were loaded with talent. It was the next 4 seasons that were hapless...Lost like 42 straight after he left & even made USAToday...Then Reese Morgan showed up...Went 1-8 with a God-awful roster that first year...then 6-3 & in the playoffs...then they started winning state championships...

I take it back. They were good at 3-6.
