For anyone who saw him play, this year, for Waukee, can you give a
glimpse of what Hawkeye fans might get to see??

I'm intrigued by this young man............6'6, 200lb, shooter.

Thanks in advance.

I watched him a lot. I really like his upside. I don’t see him as an immediate star but the offensive skill set is massive. He’s a legit 6-7, at least. Not really athletic in a run and jump sense, but his footwork is amazing and he can get his shot off on his own, almost similar to high school oglesby in that regard. Still skinny but putting on good weight. Has to play in the post quite a bit in high school. Will struggle to guard athletic wings in man unless he can improve that lateral quickness. Very aggressive player and plays with an edge. Can get pretty heated, which would fit in pretty well on this team.

another site had an extensive writeup on him this weekend. I would gladly take him at iowa but I don’t get the feeling that he ends up here. Parents are huskers, supposedly Stanford is near the top of his list. Super sharp kid, 4.0 student. But I think he’s a double digit scorer after a couple years in the program. Keep in mind he didn’t even start for Waukee until this year. Went from scoring 6 ppg to 20 ppg in one season.

We should be in a position to get some quality 2021 recruits given Iowa's nearly universal pre-season Top 10 ranking since most will decide this upcoming fall.

I show 2 or 3 rides available (depending on if Connor takes a ride or not) assuming no attrition (which in the current dynamics of college hoops is a big assumption).

I show 2 available if everybody (including CJ and Weezy) returns and Connor is on scholarship, 3 if everybody returns + Connor is a walk on.

There would be more of course if anybody including CJ and Weezy leave.

I believe I’m counting the rides correctly.

JBo’s, Pemsl’s, and Garza’s. 3 for sure probably more with Weezy maybe going pro and normal attrition.

Good tip. If he's not committed elsewhere its a short hop to Waukee.

Back to back good seasons, all the Luka PR, I have to agree Skydog. The class of 21 should be a good recruiting class.

As stated, kid is a Husker but doesn’t have any allegiance to a college basketball team. Extremely hard worker that will give everything he has to the program and an overall good human being. Will bring the humbleness of a Weezy, but with the work ethic of a Baer or Garza. The kid has range and an effortless shot. I hope the kid chooses to be a Hawkeye but he has a good head on his shoulders and will end up in the best place for him. Tucker Devries is another Waukee kid I really want Fran to take a look at... his work ethic and upside is crazy as well.

Would you not assume DeVries would go play for his dad?

There is a reasonable possibility of that happening. Family ties to Iowa with his uncle being a football alum, and the opportunity to play at a high level could be intriguing to him. The kid is a competitor.

Where supposedly would CJ and JW be going?

I don’t think CJ or JW are going anywhere. I was simply responding to the question.

I look for both to have good basketball careers overseas after they fully exhaust their eligibility as Iowa Hawkeyes.

His Dad is from Nebraska. His Mom went to Iowa. I have a feeling the kid will make up his own mind and go where is best for him both basketball wise and academically.

Just think that he'd be a better fit, at Iowa, where you've got a more
firm footing, right now, in terms of a solid Big10 program.

Maybe... I think Iowa is definitely in the mix but like I said, he has a good head on his shoulders and will make a great decision for himself. He has a 9th grade brother that started for Waukee also and is going to be a stud.

I'm not worried about a guy like this. If he wants to go to Nebraska because his family are Huskers then it just wasn't meant to be and he can hope to go to the tournament once every 100 years, which I'm guessing he will probably miss out on that cycle.

i don’t know the younger one but I was told he is an ISU fan

I think any Iowa kid with a scholarship offer from the Hawkeyes should consider the situation a few recent in-state recruits who spurned Iowa find themself in.
True, and now Payton can't really get recruited, at least not in person. I hope the good guys can get him to commit by the early signing date.

The Waukee kids are Drake/UNI level talents, imo. Perfect fits there.

Not physical enough for the B1G,

Same could have been said about Nicholas Baer out of high school but his work ethic was the difference. From my knowledge - the work ethic of Sandfort and Devries is right up there with Nick. They are team guys that will do anything to help their team win.
