Pemsl

Yeah, he’s needed to give some guys a rest but at this point I’d like to see his minutes limited. I wonder if he’s i he being to hang it up after this year.

I used to be a defender of Pemsls but not anymore. I hate to say this but he doesn't add much at all to the team. After the Notre Dame game his freshman year it looked like he may become a star. Well, it didn't happen

Me too as far as defending him, but after tonight, yikes. Just laziness. That stupid bounce pass straight out of bounds, seriously?

He had some red flag injury concerns in high school and he brought them to college. Has really slowed him down. Not sure where he is academically but would like to see him grad transfer to a mid major and hopefully put together a solid SR season like Ellingson did with Drake.

Who is being an a-hole? Not I...

Hmmmm asking someone if they have a brain injury isn’t being an asshole? Pemsl will never be the player he once was, his Freshman year, because his body won’t allow it.....is that better? Hopefully that clears things up for the slower folks pecking away at their keyboards.

Picking on injured players is being an asshole. Sorry for not making that distinction.

Not sure about picking on him but it’s pretty clear he’s done. I respect him for trying to play through all the injuries he’s had and the guy is a warrior, but it’s pretty clear he’s done.

I expected Pemsl to come out this year with renewed offensive confidence after a year behind his belt honing something more then a head fake and tuning down wide open jumpers.
Iowa has enough Maishe Daily clones on this team with Bakari Evelyn, Riley Till, Connor, and now a broken down Pemsl.
It's hard to predict how this season will transpire but a lack of bench support for the few Iowa players that have to carry the load is not a recipe for success and if Bohannan calls it quits this team is likely headed in the wrong direction.
Iowa is a hard working and gritty team but that hardly puts wins in the book, if half the team isn't skilled enough. Fran and his staff have a major problem on their hands and if past history is an example, this Iowa basketball season can unravel really quickly.

I am not sure why our coach puts him on the floor. Go small with Garza or Kreiner in the middle.

Wow. Who are you??? So since you watched a couple of his first televised games since missing 15+ months of competitive basketball with injuries, you are proclaiming to know this? You are ridiculous. The kid is 20 years old. He has a TON of life left, and a ton of potential to work hard and get back to the speed of the game.

It won’t be easy work, but it can be done. College athletes got to where they are today by ignoring naysayers hiding behind keyboards like you. I’m sure Cody doesn’t think he’s done, and is working hard to prove idiots like yourself wrong.

All the said, we do need to manage his minutes and his health. But we sure as hell shouldn’t be giving up on this kid. He committed to the hawks and is part of our family.

Going to the stats. Pemsl has made 3 field goals on the season I believe. And they all came in one game against a very poor 300+ rpi team. Fran has tried to give him a chance. Now that we’re in the conference schedule it will be even more difficult to score. His minutes need to go to Kriener.

I’d rather have Riley till play minutes then Pemsl. I’m sure he is a good kid off the court but due to his injuries he is no where close to where he once was and is a liability on offense and defense.

No doubt he should be supported. They are in college, they aren't being paid to play. Hawkeye family, totally get it. With that said, Fran is not doing him any favors right now by playing him. He can't do it physically. Not against really good competition like Michigan.

Hopefully Pemsl can rile up Jacobson and the ISU faithful on Thursday in Ames.

Other than that, I don't have much hope for him contributing much this season.

He REALLY looked to be in pain last night. Even when he was fouled and hit the 2 FTs he gave a pump fake had the defender in the air and looked like he didn't even want to go up to take contact for a "and one". I'ts not like him to not be hustling out there.

Exactly - it looks like he shouldn't be out there at all, and if we were a healthier team he probably wouldn't be out there. Unfortunate that his body isn't holding up, because for much of his freshman season there was a legitimate debate whether he was more productive than Tyler Cook.

I Feel bad for him.
Hes the classic kid that has his mind n the right place but his body has failed him.
IMO Fran needs to let him spell people when he feels up to it and then watch the rest od the time. He is far too young to double down any further on hurting his body.
Work hard in school son and get your degree. You are one of the 99.9% of people that won't be a pro athlete.

Unless you're a non-scholarship walk-on, you are absolutely getting paid to play.

For confirmation ask anyone else at a DI school from the general student body, who doesn't possess a full ride scholarship.

Pemsl appears to have put on some weight, which is not going to hep his body as he tries to play in the sausage grinder that is the B1G conference season. The extra weight and the injuries have clearly relegated him to a non-B1G type player.

That was all the tape anyone ever needed to scout him, and the high point of his career.

Are you really lumping Connor in that group after what he’s provided this year so far?

There are some total idiots on this board.
True that. I'd substitute 'malignant' for 'total.'

My enduring memory of Pemsl is him jumping off the deck to confront the Clown Jacobson. Was that last year?

I admit, mentioning Connor was a very poor choice on my part, :( but for a player with your head coach as a father you'd think that his shooting stroke would be more refined. Pat has a weird 3 point stroke too. Not something you'd expect from a basketball family.
But as some has said, Connor is doing fine and provides a stabilizing influenza on the team. My bad!
Still, Iowa losing any more players are not far away from finishing near the bottom of the Big Ten which in my opinion is just the excuse Fran needs to justify another lost season.
