Penn State's opening line up

Despite FlyingPussyCats wonderful statistical analysis imposed upon us recently (or enlightening us perhaps, depending upon your perspective I guess - this whole wrestling thing is fairly new to the Midwest folks.......), most of us presume Top 10 overall recruits are "the real deal". That is why people tend to recruit them more than the 273rd overall recruit after all.

Despite the pedigree coming in, I would caution anyone to throw out the "real deal" thing after a dual with Army however. Just sayin'. ;)

Whether he's the real deal or not is unlikely to be revealed after a dual against Army.

I'm just not going to point out a top national recruit at Iowa is the "real deal" after they throttle a kid from East Bethel Tech. That is supposed to be a given. (and East Bethel Tech beat Army in a dual last year 36-3...................);)

Color me skeptical. I think Suriano blows him out of the water. 6-9 point win for Nick here. I think Suriano is going to be a handful for anyone this year. He has the D the keep matches close with elite guys. He's only going to get better as the year goes and anyone not named Gilman is going to really have a tough time with him.

Both guys were top 5 p4p. I believe Suriano was #2 p4p.

Along with Suriano and Joseph, that other under the radar PSU recruit, #1 p4p Mark Hall might all turn out to be the "real deal".....if only Cael can develop them.

The Army vs PSU dual is on YouTube. Can't take too much from the results, but nice to see some of the new guys wrestle.
 
Mueller is much improved from then, but he had a long way to go. He's getting a lot of hype right now because he's at VA and certain guys at FLO love them some VA. That said, he's getting pretty good. But I'd temper the enthusiasm a bit.
 
Really pulling for Morelli to have a quality in-season so they keep Hall's shirt on. Then have a real average post season.
