Perkins.

Let's analyze your statement....Garza, Bohannan, Wieskamp, Fredrick, Keegan Murray, and PMac take 90+ shots taken in a game. Keegan and PMac are freshman and take the fewest of the 4 upperclassmen. When Ahron and Tony get in a game they hunt to pass off to the upperclassmen 99% of the time. Those 2 players plus Toussaint didn't average over 20+ and game during their senior years in High School by converting only layups 🙄 the only other reason none of the 3 hunt shots is that they have a leash put on them.
Fran is never going to pull a upperclassmen starter for taking a bad shot not even his oldest son who only makes a shot when he closes his eyes...

So, you have no idea what Tony has been told when he enters the game. You are making an assumption based on what you see in the games. That was my point, you do not know what has been said.

Also, who on Iowa hunts for their shot? Luka would probably be the only one. I never said Tony or any other of the freshman are not or cannot become good scorers. Only that I believe that they defer to the upperclassmen as is common for many underclassmen.

I agree, hard to ever know but I feel Iowa made a crucial mistake not seeing what they had with Perkins, JT and Ulis.

Our ceiling in tourney is an athletic matchup. Unless we shoot out of our minds against an athletic team we are cooked.

Is what it is at this point. I’ve accepted that we are rolling with our veterans.
Didn't Iowa beat several "athletic" teams this year without shooting "out of their minds"?

And then people would complain Fran had too big of a rotation again. We’re a top five team and will be a two seed in the NCAA tournament. I would say things have worked out alright.

Who? We were red hot from 3 vs OSU and NC. MSU, Rutgers, are bubble teams.

Can’t think of a single win over a 4-6 seed caliber athletic team were we didn’t shoot well.

Not to mention the MSU game at home were we had a rough game offensively we played our athletic lineup the entire 2nd half of JT, Perkins, KM, Pmac, Garza.

Same against OSU, Cmac was in foul trouble and we played a more athletic lineup almost entire 2nd half when we took over game.

4 seed? You said "athletic teams" in the post I replied to. If Iowa is a 2 seed they will not encounter a 4-seed until at least the Sweet 16.
Iowa generally shoots it well so getting red hot is subjective on your part. I am just saying that there were several athletic teams that Iowa faced this year that they beat. They came close on a few others, notably IN at IN. Purdue is an athletic team that I would add to your group above and they aren't on the bubble. Iowa shot 35% against them and won by 15. Iowa also won @Maryland. That's 6 teams that Iowa beat (some twice) who are probable NCAA Tourney teams. I like their chances of being alive in the second weekend, especially with at least 4 days to prep for their opponent.

Iowa was 13/26 from 3 against Maryland 50 percent.

Im worried if we face a Texas Tech, Arkansas, West Virginia to get to or past the sweet 16. My point is if you play our std starting lineup against those teams we have to shoot well. Where as a bigger mix of Perkins / Km / JT / Pmac gives you other ways to win the game.

I don’t want to argue, let’s agree that this team has a great shot to make a run. No matter who is on the court I’ll be cheering my ass off.

Can't do that, man. Can't take the play of upperclassmen Hawk players and automatically assume that is how they would have performed as freshman in the NCAA tourny. Also, Murray replacing CM doesn't make sense. I do agree that Toussaint should get more minutes but with a short leash if he is getting reckless.

Murray replacing Connor makes a ton of sense.

Fair point with Murray. You undervalue Connor's entry passing IMO because we are increasingly seeing other players sagging their man to double Garza - its more difficult. The pass needs to be precise or you end up with a TO. There is no doubt that CM is the most skilled passer. He has his deficiencies, I agree. Nevertheless, I am holding out hope that Connor will step up and make more shots in the tournament to make our opponent's defense more honest which, in turn, will make entry passes less difficult for any passer.
Connor's three point shot is too flat. He needs to put in a summer of form shooting to get his shot corrected. Patrick has much better form on his 3 point attempts.

I don't think Iowa will face any of those teams until the Sweet 16 at the earliest. I am more worried about the second game. Hopefully the Hawks will be healthy and shooting, especially CJ. Iowa really needs him to get back on track.

You sound like an under achiever.

the Major complaints are minutes distribution.

Illinois put Curbelo into starting lineup and finished 2nd in regular season, beat iowa twice, and won a BIg10 title and probably number 1 seed in NCAA. Iowa finished 3rd regular season, tied for 3rd with Michigan in BTT, and probably 2 seed...I'd take Illinois results over Iowa's.

And he’s much better than Perkins or Ullis or Toussaint. Ullis got into the Michigan game and was a disaster.

What athletic 4-6 seed did we lose too?

Yep, there's gonna be a whole lot of "what could've been" comments in the coming years when Murray/Toussaint/Perkins/Ulis all look great and we look back and wonder why Conner was getting 30 mins in critical tournament games.
In the last 4-5 games there have probably been a dozen times when Connor has the ball 1 on 1 15-20 feet from the basket and never attacks the rim. I guess he is looking to throw up another brick from behind the arc. I am convinced if he was playing for any other coach in America he would never see the floor more than 6-10 minutes a game.

I could be wrong, this is just my opinion, but I feel more confident in the offense being run properly when Connor is out there. I think Joe T and especially Perkins are going to be huge next year but right now I just feel like the offense runs smoother and has better ball movement. Not saying I'm right, just my opinion.

It's true we need CJ, JBo, Weezy, and Garza to carry Cmac once we reach the good teams.

Connor played 27 minutes and did not shoot against Illinois. Let that sink in. He’s playing more minutes than our 1st legitimate NBA player in 20 years. Murray does everything better except feed the post. It’s absurd that a guy who shoots it better, rebounds it better, defends better, blocks shots better, runs the floor better, is a way better athlete and 3 inches taller plays less minutes.

We as Iowa fans ALL hope he makes more shots, hell do anything that makes some one guard him because we ALL know his is going to be out there getting major minutes.

Connor is functioning primarily as Luka's assist man this season,.. not sure how he fits in next year.

His last name is McCaffery! There's a reason D.J Carton didn't want to come to Iowa...
