About right for us. Although, Lester at 42!? Should be night and day from last year according to this. Color me skeptical until proven otherwise. 42 is pretty high for an Iowa OC, especially when we got to experience the absolute worst of them all (at probably any level). Alas, Ludwig would've been a nice get but we all already knew that.

Note that non-Power 4 teams like Tulane, Army and ECU are represented in these rankings.

Brian Ferentz (Iowa's offense) was ranked #130 last season. And Tim Lester at #42? I can only wonder what @EvilMonkeyInTheCloset is thinking!!! ;)

And just how could you rate Lester as OC at Iowa when he hasn't coached a game there or in the B1G. Just shows how stupid it is. Kinda like Kirk at 15. I could dispute almost EVERYONE of the guys ahead of Kirk. Most of those guys have never done shit at a school where you actually have to recruit and develop players. Sarkisian. Pfff really. Franklin or Brohm. Lolol.. Really? Based on what.

Are we actually using BGB as a source for this type of info? That handle is a clown.

Well, first off, the rankings are simply opinions.

The Big Game Boomer account has 111,000 followers (I am not one of them). Are all of the followers clowns? Of course not.

These rankings were re-tweeted by Iowa media members. Are these media members clowns, too? Of course not.

Yes, anyone that takes that account seriously is a clown. You live on twitter, so you should know. It is also fairly easy to rank coaches using stats.

Franklin would suck ass with recruiting classes ranked the same as Iowa's.

I don't get the James Franklin love at #9, what has he done? Coaches at an arguably blue blood program in prime recruiting country, sell- out crowds; but manages to blow critical games. And a whiney little bitch to top it off. Just highly overrated, I'll take Kirk any day.
Yes, and Brohm's an even bigger joke. Another guy with way more cred then he deserves, based off job performance......

I pray that he deserves that ranking in the upcoming season, but let's not count our chickens before they hatch. I don't see him turning around this offense in a mere 7 months. Hell, top 90 would be a big accomplishment his first year.

But it makes you think, out of the three coordinator positions, Iowa is ranked #1 for two out of the three. Just imagine if we had a top 50 offense? We're so close to taking that next step...

He beat the breaks off you guys and according to this list has worse assistant coaches. 9 seems to be about right.

I do see Lester "turning around this offense in a mere 7 months." All that is required is reasonably good health for the offense AND KF to keep his hands off it.

Hayden Fry took over a mess of a program and turned the offense around, behind a QB who, the previous season, had been a 5th string DB, in his very first season. The first half of Fry's first game vs. Indiana (not Illinois State or UNI or Troy), Iowa's offense looked like it had been together for years. The timing was impeccable. The pass patterns precise. The misdirection effective.

Please do not underestimate the power of good coaching. BF was so far out of his depth as OC and, I still can't believe it, QB coach, that it's immeasurable. Lester was a good college QB. He's coached QBs. He's led offenses. He has an actual system, not a grab bag of tired plays.

Lester at #42 makes sense to me now, but he'll be top ten by the end of the season when Iowa's offense shocks the nation and the Hawkeyes end up in the playoffs.

Really. We've beat him several times and he has the benefit of much higher ranked classes the KF has. Same goes for Day and Harblough. I'd love to see what their record would be year in and year out if they were recruiting to schools not named OSU, or M
