A bit mystified at the play calls in the second half. Going into a shell is a description already used by posters here today but even that does not explain how timid and predictable the play calls were. From halfway through the second quarter the NDSU linebackers and at least one safety were basically in run blitz mode. They charged hard every time Beathard even looked at an Iowa RB. Just very confused as to why play action was rarely called. Even the play action/rollout, which would have gotten Beathard away from pressure was there whenever we wanted it. I would be amazed if Davis could not have seen what several thousand Hawk fans saw. He just apparently chose to not take advantage of what was there. With two OL starters out, he just put way too much pressure on our guys up front. Very mystified at the stubbornness our coaches show sometimes. Hopefully we respond and get on a roll the rest of the way.
