Even if it's situational, the staff should find ways to get the ball in his hands on offense. He and the staff have a whole offseason to learn and figure out a role for him and we've seen he's capable of catching passes and making plays with the ball in his hands.

I was saying that way back in week 4.

Now that the season is over the staff has 6 months to figure out how to get our WR's open. Including using our best player as much as possible.

I doubt it though.....

Maybe we can have him sell refreshments on the sidelines, too. Clearly, the kid is not contributing enough out there:rolleyes:

I would like to see some spot work for him on O if he wants to do it. He already has a lot on his plate with returns and D though ...

That is the only legitimate way he gets true Heisman hype.

That is assuming he starts the season with some picks and a few good returns and solid play on d

Not likely but I would expect a reaction similar to the fake punt idea against Ill St.

The place would go nuts if they got him the ball on O in any way.

While I agree that's the only way he could get a Heisman/POY type award, I actually don't believe he'd be any more explosive than Jonathan Parker on offense. It's sexier to give DK the ball, but probably just as effective to get it to Parker. DK may be more effective as a decoy, as other teams would think "Surely they're going to give it to him if they've brought him in!"

Kinda like how having King return kicks is the same as having Parker return kicks, right....

If they were to use King on offense, I think a wildcat or 3rd down back out of the backfield on a linebacker makes sense; in a limited number of snaps as other posters have mentioned.

I can't imagine our staff installing a wildcat. Can't imagine it!!

I think we have enough offensive players that can make a difference where we don't need King on offense. Keep him on the specialty stuff, but we need his skills on defense. We are a long ways away from a wide open offense, maybe next year it happens, King can get even better on D.

Really? Coaches have plenty of tape seeing King with the ball. He could certainly be a great decoy if nothing else, though he should get the ball.

We have seen him for three years and he looked like a video game in high school videos. Get him the ball a time or two and see what he does.

You never know. We didn't run the jet sweep much this year so maybe we'll start the wildcat. We live in a strange world with a new Kirk.

Completely agree, since he decided to return, I feel like we owe it to him to showcase him a little more, similar to Woodson at Michigan.

Don't like the idea of playing King on offense because there are better options at RB and WR so it would be a gimmick only.

If Iowa is going to run a wildcat at least snap it to a player who can throw the ball also -- Derrick Mitchell, Jr. might be a good option because he was a pretty good dual threat high school QB out of St. Louis.

King would be an excellent running back. His feet are incredible in close spaces, see his returns from last year. Just like Peppers at Michigan, use him sparingly, but I love the idea.

I'm not sure how I feel about this either...but let's not forget that he set his high school career rushing record and rushed for 2,360 yards his senior year. This man has the gift.
