So much for Spring Break. Now they have to stick around and practice for a tourney they don't care about.
Hope next yr Hawks can make the dance.

if they don't want to play in it turn down the invitation then.

I mean, ya. Its great on paper: more games, cohesion, etc. But these are college kids who now cant do something they'd probably rather do: spring break stuff. They love bball, but its over. At least thats what ive heard from the few past players ive met.

These guys should be tickled pink to be able to play another game and hopefully get the taste of that turd out of their mouths. Not sure they even deserve the NIT after that effort. Nevertheless they should embrace the challenge and try to use it to improve for next year.

So, we should get to see what character can be built out of getting there.

All part of the learning process...

Any player that doesn't want to take the floor again should just hang the shoes up now and just play rec league the rest of their life. Yes, that includes senior Peter Jok. I played 4 years of baseball for the Hawks so never got to go on a spring break. I liked to party and chase the girls like any college kid but NOTHING was better than putting on the Hawkeye uniform with your teammates. I don't care if it was against Michigan or Mount Mercy. Road trips with the team were the BEST! Peter should be hoping the season never ends and the younger players should look forward to ANY opportunity to compete.

Maybe baseball players have a different attitude. Or maybe it was Alford.

Maybe but when I played (way back when)the basketball players had it EASY for travel compared to baseball. If we played At Ohio State we were takin a 20 hour round trip bus ride while they flew everywhere.

Where's this no NIT, spring break crap coming from. If the kids recruited have any salt they are anxious to play more. What gives you the right to gossip, degrade and lie about the way they feel. What you've heard is dog-eared fans pretending to know it all because their pissed off thinking mighty Iowa shouldn't lower itself to the NIT. News alert: Spring break is for high schooler's and off the cuff college nerds using mommy and daddy's money to get away from mommy and daddy, hoping to get drunk and their first lay.

I doubt Jok plays in NIT. No reason to

I can think of quite a few reasons Peter should WANT to go. But then again I'm one of THOSE guys who feels that football players that refuse to play in bowl games should return that semesters scholarship $.

Didn't woody and gessell go to NIT championship vs Baylor?

I think we can gain tournament experience.

I think they beat a pretty decent Virginia? team on the road to get to the Championship. I can assure you those players have positive memories of that experience. A lot of FANS are ready for the season to end and think all the players should feel as they do.

Good post N. Legend, I agree 100%. When somebody comes out with alot of crap please give some names. Thanks....

Say what? We went to the finals. Marble was on fire. We went the NCAAs every year since. Except this year...That is a boost. I'll take another boost like that!
That's what I thought too. I wasn't in the mood to look it up but I remember that too. We got blown out in that game but the experience carried over to 3 straight NCAA's

There was a NIT run a few years back that helped build some momentum for subsequent seasons

The next year they played well and then tanked and lost something like 6 of last 7 and backed in to NCAA in play in game. Next year they finished B1G strong, but laid a turd in B1G tourney and were blown out by Gonzaga. Then of course last year they faded and drew Villanova and were blown out.

So, NIT probably didn't advance our cause much. Virginia on other hand springboarded from NIT.

Umm, I don't know where or when you went to college, but no one has to leave town to do either of those things.

This team is super young. The More experience the better. Especially tournament experience. I'm all for it and will support these young fellas

This is correct. If Fran can identify the players who don't want to keep playing, they should sit their asses down permanently. The NIT finals were a great experience for Iowa a few years ago. It was fun to watch and gave our then young team plenty to build on. Iowa laid an egg against Indiana. It happens. I love this team, they have been a blast to watch, and I look forward to the NIT. It's the best we got left this year.
