It seems any time I call a business with a menu option the recording always says the same thing, "Please listen carefully as our menu options have changed". Is it common practice to change menu options often or is this simply a gimmick forcing callers to listen more carefully to select the correct department.

What say you HROTers?
 
I learned to program the Automated Call Distribution (ACD) system at a place I worked at back in the day. We did go in and make changes quite a bit based on what was going on, staffing, etc. It was usually changes in where calls were routed to balance workload, more than the actual options when you called in.
