James passed away today from cancer. Wanted to let our Hawkeye friends know also. Saddened today.

He was a warrior on the mat, and by all accounts a stand up man off the mat. Definitely puts a damper on the day, very sad to see anyone in the wrestling family go so young, and to such a cruel disease.
Saddened please let us know how we can help his family. They raised him right!

On top of losing him way too young, they also lost him just before Christmas. I'm sure any show of support, monetary or emotional, will be greatly appreciated.
I still remember an unseeded James Vollrath getting a quick fall in the 7th place match at Big Tens in 2011, a tournament that PSU would go on to win by 1 point. He was always a tough competitor. Very sad loss. Thoughts and prayers are with the Vollrath family
