PMac is 20 today. Will we be seeing this next winter?

Just observing Patrick at the games tells me that he hasn't added much if any weight. Is he practicing with the team? If so, any word on how he looks. If not, you would think the inactivity would be conducive to putting on pounds. I know it did with me.
I don't think Patrick will ever gain as much weight as you all want him to. Some people are just naturally slender/slim/thin. It seems like this site has two priorities for recruits (1) gain weight (2) maybe redshirt. How wide are Pat's shoulders? In my unscientific observations, narrow shoulders mean less likely to put on weight. Any of you notice the kid from Sgt. Bluff in the state tourney, Majouk, anyone think he will every put on weight?
And, BTW, there have been some good slender/slim/thin players in basketball even up through the pros. Even in the rough BiG.

Yea, I'm not a doctor so I'll admit I don't know what I'm talking about.

But here's my opinion based purely on gut instinct: the whole thing sounds weird. The "trying to figure out his meds" excuse is odd. It sounds like he just doesn't have the stamina for a whole college basketball season. And if that's true, I'm not sure what will change 8 months from now. Docs have been trying to figure out the medication for a few years now. Will they suddenly find the medication combo that works? I honestly don't know, and I don't know if anyone knows.

The situation is terrible and obviously basketball pales in comparison to Pats health. I won't have any expectations one way or the other for his college career.

I've never had cancer, but I did have a heart attack. During my recovery from it, my meds had to be adjusted on just about every visit for something like 3-4 years. Why? Because the meds would work as advertised, to a point, but would limit what I was able to do physically. I could take drug X twice a day when I was at fitness level A, but once I got to fitness level B, it had to be adjusted. I can currently run a 5k in a shade under 20 minutes, if I were still on the meds that I started on, I'd probably be limited to about a 25 min 5k.

In addition, some of the meds, at certain doses, made me feel like crap, but at doses where I felt fine, it wasn't worth taking. I literally changed doses/drugs once a quarter from around July 2010 to around Jan 2015.

I would imagine Pat is experiencing something similar. He might be just fine by next fall, he might never be able to play at a high level or he might fall somewhere in between

What truly amuses me is that people think he won't be able to play just because of stamina issues. As if he must reach some sort of threshold or hes in danger. That's not reality.

It made complete sense to take time off this year to both give his body more time to adjust and doctors more time to tweak the meds. Remember Bryan Bulaga?

Absolute worst case scenario nothing changes....He can still play. It's not an either or scenario.

It's just means his minutes will be limited. Maybe he takes a game off here and there, maybe limited in practic ect.

I imagine the older he gets the more stamina will increase as his body adjusts.

In all the videos you see he is practicing with the team. I think they just reached a point in the season where it wasn't worth burning what should be an easy medical hardship redshirt for him this season. Worked out well considering how all the tourneys went up in flames. I'm optimistic that he'll be on the team next season, and maybe limit his minutes to 15 or so. At least I'd say thats the plan right now, otherwise I don't see the point in him practicing and traveling with the team if Fran wasn't planning on him playing next season.

Concerning how well Luka progressed. I thought that with Cook gone, he would be pushing the 20/10 threshold. I never envisioned him surpassing that and becoming NPY.

Well said. Cordell, Ryan and P Mac are fairly close in height. Compare Cordell and Ryan with P Mac.

Think you're spot on. P Mac doesn't have the build to get really muscular. Improved shooting (always a thing) and ball skills are P Macs priority. Obviously if he can lift and work out that's great but muscle is not going to be his game.
