I apologize if this has been posted, but I couldn’t find anything at quick glance.

Is there any news or updates on his season status? Is he out or the year? Definitely coming back? Or still questionable? If JBo shuts it down as expected this team could use some depth.

I hope he does a RS but I get why he doesn't want to he wants to play with his brother as much as he can but it would be in HIS best interest to RS but love the fight.

The way it sounded last night from the announcers was he would be back pretty soon.
This is what I got from the broadcast as well. The focus is obviously on his health, but they said something to the effect of "he expects to be back on the court sooner rather than later"

Don’t worry about next year. Posters here will have Garza going pro somewhere, JBo grad transferring, Fran getting fired and his kids leaving with him. Pemsl and Nunge hanging it up or leaving, Joe T transferring .....

Some of which may have a chance to be true but there will some hand wringing about every negative possibility

Getting Patrick back would be a good addition to the roster. The restructuring of the lineup may be to his advantage if he can provide some spot duty as a 2 or 3. He won't have to bang with a bigger guy and might be able to exploit his height advantage against shorter guards. I think he is versatile enough offensively to not be solely reliant on shooting 3's and would be a nice add in the press and transition. He can't have less offense than Evelyn.

If everyone returns and returns healthy...next year could have a very nice look to it.

Still need someone that can more effectively play the 4, bc I wasn't sold on Nunge this year and am even less so on a newly reconstructed knee Nunge. If Fran has a ship available this spring he should sell transfer market players hard for any player that can make an impact at that PF position.

Agreed. We add another year experience to a team that looks good right now. Although that may change some if JBo redshirts with a medical waiver.

Add a healthy PMac & JBo, the Murray Twins, who are tearing it up with their pseudo-redshirt year. Ulis, the big British fella and Tony Perkins, and this will be a decent team.
Especially if they can add some defense!

Really looking to see what Perkins can do to get on the floor. He needs to bring some defense. I would REALLY like to see a lot of these!!

If everyone returns healthy Fran is going to have to be really pushing some redshirts. Assuming Jbo is back we are at ‘14’ scholarship players next year. That is unmanageable, especially for Fran.

I am starting to think Pemsl would consider leaving for more playing time. Unless he just loves being a Hawk and not concerned about PT. Even with an injury depleted team he is getting very few minutes 1/3 of the way thru the season. If he stayed a Hawk I would respect that. With all of the players leaving hoping to get 4 more minutes of PT nowadays, it would be refreshing for a kid to stay cause he loved his team/coach. Pemsl seems like he could be one of those guys.

Don't forget Weezie is a big headed prime Madonna who will take his non communicating Beto self to they NBA. His body language leaves no doubt.

Better than when the announcers (a few games ago) explained that Connor had to start playing PG because of Nunge's knee injury.
I’d rather hear that garbage than have them continue talking about how Connor also plays baseball every time he’s mentioned.

He needs to redshirt whether he's healthy or not. He brings nothing but a body right now.

I would have been in more agreement with you a week ago. After seeing more of Pemsl and Evelyn coupled with Jbo likely shutting it down, Patrick would be a welcome addition. I don't know what he is / isn't capable of, but I think he can get a few hustle baskets and knock a couple shots down occasionally.

Can't play him at the 4, but put him out there as one of the guard-forward slash positions and see what he can do. He is long, athletic, handles the ball well and has hops. I honestly can't see him being less productive than Pemsl or Evelyn.

I agree on the pemsl comment. It would be hard for anyone to add less than what pemsl does. But Patrick will get absolutely abused on defense whether its a 3 or 4, and his shot is horrible. Basically all he'd bring is a few transition buckets a game. Don't waste a year for him. Let pemsl play, even tho he's a detriment.

I'll be sitting behind the family Thursday. Might get a chance to ask him or his mother.

Probably not, though.

If JBo redshirts, I dont think we any choice but to play PMac

If we're playing Connor at the 4 you can have Patrick at the 4. Especially since we play zone half the time.

You don't redshirt top 100 players when you have 7 healthy players.

Any weight related worrying opinions are just antiquated nonsense.

The 4 is a perimeter position in modern basketball.

I like Patrick to play if he’s almost ready- say Cincinnati and maybe ISU. Know he wants to play with his brother and think his game may work better with the 4-out/1-dominant big formation Iowa has now.

On the other hand, if he’s hurting and unable to practice, JBo needs to bite the bullet and sit after ISU.

Garza isn’t going pro anywhere, he’ll be back. I don’t think he’ll ever go pro in the NBA. Way too slow and heavy footed. Michigan gave Garza that game instead of getting hit with three pointers. He’s needs another year. Kriener gets down court on defense way quicker than Garza. Garza has things to work on, like maybe losing the weight he wanted to gain. He slow as shit in transition. How’s that gonna work in the NBA? It won’t, and he won’t be drafted or ever play. Play college ball, get your degree and move on. Kevin McHale days are over with the NBA’s running style now. Do people watch any basketball besides Iowa?

I'm not saying Garza's ready for the NBA but, are you really gonna trash the kid that just won National Player of the Week Award?
