Pole Cat Iowa style

Looked like Easley could have also scored. He had a caravan in front of him.

A field goal without a holder? Don’t know of too many drop kick field goal kickers since Nile Kinnick! You may have heard of him.

The defense really fell asleep on that play. Why didn’t Urban call a time out?

I think not calling timeout was the right move. OSU was down 14, Iowa was passing up a chance at 3 points to run a fake. OSU has to make a play to get back into the game.

Calling timeout and watching Iowa kick to make it 17 wasn't OSU's best shot. Their best shot was to defend the play, get a stop, and then score on their own to cut it to 7.

This seems like the second time we have run a fake field goal and given the opposing team time to call timeout and they haven't and we have executed it to near perfection. Do people not trust Kirk in actually doing those and messing it up or what?

They came out in a FG formation. Recinos lined up to kick from holder Rastetter. Recinos then sprints to the OSU sideline with the "line" and Eppy following him. Rastetter drops back to recieve the snap and execute the trick play.

The speicals teams unit faked like they were going to kick the FG, so it is a fake FG.

It's remarkable to me how many people doubt that this was a fake FG, as several have posted essentially this comment on a couple of threads. I assume they're saying this because the only evidence they are going on, is/are the videos shown in the links provided. If so, that's understandable. This seems to be another case that knowing the true context changes the interpretation entirely, however.

As @ichawk24 correctly points out, that was our FG unit out there. The players ran out and assumed the traditional FG formation, only to motion into the formation shown above. I know this because: 1) I was there and witnessed said events (recorded them in slow-mo, too!); 2) my kid is the kicker, and we discussed this play ad nauseum prior to the game ; )

Awesome! - any chance that you can upload that video? I was about 30 rows up on the 5 yard line and about lost it when the motion started. Safe to say everyone around me was surprised/tricked as well.

Here it is. I didn’t start taping till after they had gone into motion. Gonna see if I can record the whole thing from the game broadcast.

Here’s the video of the network feed, where you can see the FG unit come out and set up per usual, then the network guys foolishly decide to show a replay right then, and miss the motion into the polecat. Typical ignorance of the importance of ST! ; )

I want to thank you for having sex twenty years ago, so we get his kicking and this video. Well done, sir.
