POLL: President Trump or President Cruz?

If we have to end up with a GOP president starting in 2017, and it has to be down to Cruz or Trump, which guy do you want in charge?

Note, this is not a strategic question (which one would be more likely to win or lose to Hillary). One of them IS going to be the next president. So which would you rather have in the White House?

I lean left. Cruz would be a disaster on a million levels, and I actually think Trump would be a better president in some regards, but we just can't have Trump in the White House. That would be a very dark day for this country. WAY too many fascist tendencies.

I am the lone lefty vote for Trump. So far.

I confess I don't know whether Trump's actual policies would be as awful as some of his statements suggest - simply because I find it hard to take those statements seriously. But they aren't any worse, for the most part, than the things Cruz says. And I do believe Cruz means what he says. Plus Cruz is a religious zealot who courts the support of radical Christian extremists - with all that implies for foreign and domestic policy. Trump displays none of that. He doesn't seem religious at all.

Trump is routinely outrageous and casual with the truth. Cruz routinely and deliberately lies.

Bottom line: Cruz is scary. Trump might be just as bad, but there's a good chance he wouldn't be. We know Cruz will be.

I think I have to go with Trump, too. Closing the nation to Muslims is bad. But carpet bombing them is worse.
