Popcorn time - Mccarthy is out.

Not even Jesus on the ticket with St. Peter as his running mate could beat whomever the Dems run out there. It is simply mind boggling how the Republicans always manage to find a way to muck up most anything.

Give the Dems some time.....they'll be able to work their way down to 'stupid' level - they still have a whole year to do it....

Perhaps, but it's going to be damn hard to seem more disorganized than the GOP is now. And one other item... the Dems have no version of the Tea Party, which is the root cause of most of the Republican troubles.

Who takes the jobs no American wants? The next speaker might be in this crowd.

A truly scary thought. On par with Hitler taking power through thoroughly legitimate democratic processes.
King is a good example of why the GOP House is a mess and dysfunctional. These extreme politicians know they are safe in their own districts and thus they refuse to compromise in Congress. It's really an indictment on how dumb those voters in his district really are.

After saying he would not take the job yesterday, Paul Ryan is suddenly looking very likely to be the next Speaker. No means yes, I guess.

The other name that came up and made me cringe was Darrell Issa.

Not sure what to think about an Ayn Rand disciple in that chair, but I can't help but feeling Ryan would be better than Issa.

Yep, everything is relative. Ryan may be a lightweight snake oil salesman who fancies himself a policy wonk, he at least has aspirations of governing, but the criminal Issa is just a shameless political hatchet man.

Well, the choices are pretty much all bad. Ryan's no worse than the rest I guess.

This is a tough one. Ryan probably preserves our credit rating and doesn't default. But Issa might blow up the party. Both worthy goals.

Perhaps not 'dumb', but gullible and manipulatable. Any time a real and uncomfortable/awkward issue for Tea Partiers comes up, they just have to re-direct the debate to: gay marriage, abortion, gun control or Muslims. Those 'fallback' issues are the shiny Christmas tree lights of the new GOP....

Paul Ryan is going to regret being Speaker of the House.
With 40 Tea Party members intent on raising hell, the GOP
has no chance to accomplish anything noteworthy.

Did he accept? Personally I think it would be smart. He could be speaker for the next 30 years and the strongest man on the planet.

No, it's not on par with Hitler taking power. Are you a freshman in college or something?
Oh goodie. Another childish wingnut who can't think about what was actually being discussed once Hitler is mentioned. Do you know how Hitler came to power? Have you listened to the things Steve King says?

Absolutely on par.

Can't say I blame him. Dealing with the crazies hell bent on damaging the country as well as the reputation of the Republican party, combined with his unfortunate penchant for telling the truth, not to mention his foibles with the English language would have made his speakership a nonstop side show.
The Crazy's as you call them. Are the only thing keeping us from going of the rails. And full commie.
