What are his ties to Iowa? What are our chances of getting him? (I would assume small) I know he will be a 1 and done but if we could somehow pull a guy like him in it could jump start our program.

His mother played basketball at Iowa.

Chances? I don't think that link will have much sway, if any, when it comes time for him to decide. Long shot fantasy dark horse miracle (if there is such a thing). Nevertheless, Fran will give it his best shot.

Agreed, nu2u. Fran will chase him. You'd think at some point if you are in the mix with enough top players you would eventually land one.

Michael and his tall younger brother (Jontay) are friends of Tyler Cook. I believe Tyler is also dating Michael's sister Cierra who just graduated and will play for her aunt (WBB HC Robin Becker Pingeton)) at Mizzou. Another reason Tyler is very important to Iowa's MBB 2016 recruiting class. Mizzou men's basketball has its Todd Lickliter in KIm Anderson.

Personally, I could see Michael Porter playing at least two years in college. Michael's family values a solid education and their Christian beliefs advocate family and community commitment. Michael needs to develop his body further and a couple of years of college seasoning under the right coach would make him a great team leader for a NBA franchise. A lot of one and done BB players rarely have the experience of leading a team in search of excellence. The first year is really about fitting in their team's program. A second year player knows the coach's system and the routines and can thereby focus on mentoring the younger team members and developing their leadership qualities. I believe Porter can be a franchise player but he is smart like Tim Duncan and will pay his dues.

Kansas will tough to beat but Michael will NOTchose a school just for basketball reasons solely. Mizzou's AD may have some incentives for promoting Mizzou basketball but Kim Anderson is a joke. Mizzou's MBB will be poor for another couple of years.

Does it need to be jump started? You jump start something that's dead.

not sure how big a deal it is for Cook to commit to get Porter to commit, both play the same position maybe Porter might like to be the Big Man on campus? not saying he is or anything. but you never know how a 5* player thinks or will do.

at their Heights does it really matter what you label them as it does not seem to matter to Fran

Considering you said "not sure how big a deal it is for Cook to commit to get Porter to commit, both play the same position" and he was pointing out that they play different positions, it just might matter. Instead of putting a specific position on either, consider this, Cook is an inside player with the ability to step out and shoot a bit, Porter is a wing.

correct SSG.

Cook= Sullinger

Porter= Grant Hill/Scottie Pippen

and what is Pemsyland Wagner chopped liver? yes I know the idea is to get new players each year, but there reaches a point where the team becomes saturated, after all only 5 can play at a time and most of you only want 7-8 in the rotation, so who is going to sit on the bench?
