He is getting beat up pretty good in the other thread and it got me thinking. There HAS to be good things he does that no one talks about. I know the go to is him being a good fundraiser, what else can we list?

Beat me to it. Heller is the first thing that came to mind. The BOR or whoever hired Gary are the real problem. Are you telling me that he is the best we could get?
Signed the men's basketball and football head coaches to sweet heart deals with huge buyouts. Of course, that is a positive for the coaches. In addition, made sure that his assistant received a huge lawsuit judgement, which was a positive ending for her. 
He schedules cream puffs so we can make bowl games and pay big bonuses to coaching staff. That’s a positive bc we make bowl games.

He's done good things with Kinnick. The program is making money and wants for nothing.
I was gonna say facilities appear to be improving overall with the football facility, the basketball video board, and plans for improvements to the baseball stadium.
Still don’t like him as an AD though.

Barta has no redeeming quality to me. Iowa, as a University, in all athletics does not perform well. He has cost the University millions from his negligence without repentance nor any plans to improve
2021 huh. Wow. What are we gonna do? Better get Barta extended to 2030 so he can make sure KF gets extended to 2035.
I was a freshman the year we switched mid season from the Field House to Carver. Carver seemed immediately sterile. I think it was a mistake and a reason fans don’t attend like they used to. Of course winning is a factor, but the arena is flat

First few times I went it was a terrific experience. Then went about 2 years ago, and all the good football stuff had been moved to the new practice facility. The whole thing should have been incorporated into that, and the old building used for something else. It would be much better attended and with everything in one place.
As far as GB goes - I have absolutely no idea how he has kept his job, between the scandals, head-scratching contract extensions and overall poor performance of athletics across the board. Lots of P5 schools have a lot of money and are improving facilities. To praise him for that is like saying “well, he doesn’t have a criminal record.” IMO he is the worst AD in the B1G, and would be a nominee for worst in P5.
The Hall of Fame and Carver Hawkeye were not on Barta.

Tell me what is the problem with signing someone to a contract? If you think Iowa would survive long at all by blasting coaches left and right you are really confused. If you want Iowa to be a Purdue, Minnesota, Illinois...ect then you would have it. Iowa is not an elite school in any sport and the coaching pool would be minimal as far as names. I am sure the faithful think Iowa would pull some big boy in and that would be the furthest from the truth.

Iowa athletics is doing really well considering the landscape of college sports. If you think Iowa is in the upper echelon of college sports then that tells me you live in the Iowa bubble and have no idea what is going on out there. I love every aspect of what the Iowa philosophy stands for...the XBOX generation who put nothing into the equation thinks fire...fire....fire. Recruits constantly are quoted on saying that the Iowa stability is a MAJOR factor in why Iowa is a player in their recruiting.
I know that you think because you won your fantasy league with you fat buddies that you think you are a football coach....I am sure you where really pissed when Iowa football was in the B10 Championship game a few years ago...didn't see many of you types at the game?? You where probably furious when Fran won 20+ games four years in a row...Iowa is, was, and always will be part of the roller-coaster colleges. Have many good years and then a sub-par one. But in your world you would blast coaches no matter...find a different hobby
