Post dual comments...

Respect the hell out of JRob... If it wasn't for Minneaotas water headed fan base over the years I'd be more saddened by his and the programs fall from grace.

The last 2 matches were the ones that I was looking forward to pre-dual, but my favorites were Clark's and Rhoads' matches. Clark had an almost perfect match (slow second period), and I'm glad that Bramcale got the ending he deserved. Once Rhoads got confident, WOW! Was quick and moved with grace. Granted his opponent was a freshman, but anything to get Rhoads moving in the right direction is a bonus. The guy isn't afraid, just needs to hit his offense more. And then Mr. Stoll! Didn't take one shot, but countered with quickness himself. Kroells didn't have a prayer once he missed, didn't even attempt a scramble since once he missed on his shot, Sam was spun around on his back with the ref putting up 2. Also liked the crowd pump up afterwards. Didn't I see on here that some were calling for Stoll to get pinned by this guy? Oops.....

The opponent definitely needs to be taken into consideration here. Still, Rhoads did look great, and I think his performance points directly to the confidence factor. He wrestles legitimate opponents like he expects to lose. Friday night, he obviously wrestled like he expected to win big. Not saying that confidence is all you need, and it's obviously tougher to execute your offense against a better opponent, but I remain convinced that Patrick (and Topher, for that matter) has a lot more firepower than he shows against quality opponents. I'd like to see him turn his offense loose and wrestle like he knows he can win, no matter the opponent.

JRob was walking very slowly last night also. Wondering how his health is

J's knees and hips are in about as good a shape as Gable's. I think that's all that's slowing him down these days. Certainly hope that's all, anyway.

By the way, very classy move by J after Phil Haddy announced that he was no longer going to be doing PA (huge bummer -- he personifies Iowa wrestling). Some of you probably noticed that J came over and shook Phil's hand. Never been a fan of the Goofs, but I remain a big fan of J's and all he did for Iowa wrestling.

Stoll did take at least 1 shot. Because he went for a low single and Kroells backpedalled straight off the mat and Sam ran into the cheerleaders.

J still determines the training schedule and is involved in several other aspects. He does delegate tasks, but the responsibility does fall on his shoulders.

Yes, that was a very classy move by jrob to come and shake Phil's hand. Yesterday I watch a replay of the dual, and Jim Gibbons said it was JRob who was given the standing ovation by the crowd for his 30 years at MN. Obviously Jim didn't listen to what Phil had to say...lol

Actually heard the real story the other week. Unfortunate for the gophers. Iowa is a nice fit for him though.
As will Brady Berge! Kids gravitate to programs with a future...and a past. Gopher fans are hoping that having Young and Marinelli at Iowa will dissuade young Berge. I doubt he fears the challenge.

I believe Berge will grow into an '84 or even '97. Young man is still growing. Plenty of room at the Inn and he likes the Inn.

Since he has calmed down from post match screaming person he is doing quite well. Gibbons talked too much and interrupted Sparks two or three times. Who was the Play by Play and who was the color?
My guess is that was by design. I don't know Shane Sparks background all that well, but since Tim Johnson wasn't there, I assume they wanted the more "seasoned" guy doing most of the talking. Even when Sparks was more of a "yeller", I got a kick out of him. I think he does a decent job for the most part.

All the top programs have good pretty coaches, I'd say recruiting, recruiting, recruiting. By the way, why do we have 8 49ers in the room?

We should all keep in mind that Brady will have more options than just IA or MN. A lot of attractive spots for him to land.

Believe it or not, I'm not trying to pick on you, but this post strikes me as one of the Captain Obvious variety.
Yes it should be. I wasn't expecting to blow anyone's mind away with that post. However, you only see MN and IA linked to his name when discussion comes up (for obvious connections to both) , so just felt the need to point out the reality that other teams are interested. So just cuz MN is on the struggle bus doesn't mean he is a lock for IA. Just like MN isn't a lock cuz IA has two talented guys around his weight. A school like Mizzou or Cornell could sit him down and provide him a nice opportunity.

Well fortunately for me, I'm way past the point of getting worked up about speculation where a 16-17 old kid might end up in College for sporting purposes. They either come or they don't. I realize that doesn't work for everybody, so looking forward to (not really) the speculation for the next year or two for young Mr. Berge. ;)
