lost power for about 4 hrs early this morning which made me think, which is a worse time to lose electricity.....

zero or 90 degrees ?

Thank gawd for gas fireplaces.

Of course zero is worse. Pipes freeze and then no plumbing.

You youngster bubble boy types may want to know that residential air conditioning was virtually non existent until the mid sixties. When it was really hot you went to the nearest tavern that had a sign like this on the front door:

Pic of youngster bubble boy types?

While yes 0 degrees would be worse for plumping, 90 degrees would we eventually ruin all your refrigerated foods. Unless you had quick access to coolers and ice.

If you are lucky and have another heat source like a fireplace, wood burning stove or kerosine heater then maybe it's not so bad.

We've lost power for days at a time following hurricanes. When this happens, we have a neighborhood party and cook everything on grills before it spoils. It's amazing how many things you wouldn't think can be cooked on a grill can come out really, really good!

No one ever freezes to death after a hurricane.
