Good thing he posted that disclaimer or some folks would be on melt down with Mark G not in the mix at QB.....
Given that he will be out the entire spring, I wouldn't find it surprising.
After looking at the offense, i'm actually a bit excited to watch us play. Looks like there are some younger receivers making a move for PT.
Yeah, as with all spring depth charts (and, in many instances, regular season as well) just take it with a grain of salt because I'd be shocked if Brian Allen wasn't in the 2-deeps at DE.
I am excited to see how Joseph Anderson developes, though. I like the tall and super athletic DE types for pass rush situations.

Allen always impressed me more than pittman but i trust the coaches.
Brian had to have 2 surgeries after the last season. That is likely why he isn’t in the 2 deeps currently but I expect he will be by next fall.
Seeing it on paper, I’ve got concerns over our D. Particularly the back 7.
I'm betting they grab a CB in the spring portal.
They should, but you don’t bring someone in if they aren’t better than what we have on the roster.
Weird to say, but I think thr defense is more of a concern than our offense this year. We've got to find some guys in the secondary.
Absolute nothing burger for todays presser, Gronk will be maybe throwing lightly, but progress isn't quick on that injury recovery. Brian Allen has multiple surgeries as mentioned above, oh and apparently Petras is back in the building....lol
It was interesting to see Hayden Large and James Resar still on the roster in the spring press release. I thought Large was out of eligibility. Resar is still listed as a WR. I wonder if he didn't get any offers as a QB in the portal and decided to give it another shot at Iowa as a WR.
IMHO probably the most unimpressive linebacker group in a couple of decades if not longer.
I'm not sure why people are just now concerned about the defensive back 7. It's been a concern since the season ended last year when there was a complete lack of DB depth to begin with and we were losing 2 excellent 5 year linebackers. It'll be a shock if the defense doesn't take a pretty good step back this coming season. Phil's going to really have to pull a rabbit out of a hat to avoid it.
Phil ain't bad at compensating for graduation/end of eligibility losses.
I think all 4 of the CB’s in the two deeps will be good.
Lee and Hall were both playing much better at the end of the season and Kirk said they both improved their measurables in the winter conditioning program. The coaches also seem to really like Watson and Godfrey.
Been saying it for a couple seasons now. Depth on D has been thinning out. We are definitely seeing that with this Spring 2 Deep. Back 7 could be in for a long season. DL has definitely lost some quality depth. Few seasons ago Iowa could go 3 deep on the DL. LB's are a giant ?
We have a lot of talent at linebacker. Not a lot of game experience but the talent is there.
Remember, we did bring in two portal DT’s, Pace and Hawthorne who will be in the mix.
He is not listed on the website roster, but he is listed in the 2025 Spring Prospectus PDF that they just released.
Yeah, I don't think MG came here under any circumstances other than "you are the starter".
That would be good news for everyone. I think he could be a solid B1G WR and Iowa could use him.
Certainly undersized for the position at both MLB and WLB, This is why getting Kueter back at MLB would be great. I'd have to think TEs would absolutely pick apart Montgomery at 5'10"
hopefully some of the freshman LB can crack into the 2 deep if not start--we have some real good talent there now that is young and 2 more coming in and the one guy is highly ranked at LB....
