Prediction Poll: Will QB Sullivan get to play against Troy?

Will QB Sullivan get playing time against Troy?

  • Yes..and in meaningful action...no choice now but to give Sullivan a chance.

  • Yes...but only in clear meaningless game-ending garbage time.

  • Yes...but somewhere in between the first two options.

  • No..it will be a let-down game with no garbage time.

  • No...because if Sullivan outplayed Cade it could disrupt team dynamics...not worth the risk.

  • No...we already know for sure Cade is better based on prior practice performance, and he needs reps.

  • No...for another reason.

As much as every human being in the world, not named KF thinks BS should get a fair shot at meaningful QB playing time, it has literally been 10 years since KF replaced a quarterback for even one play other than injury, and he has done it maybe 3 times in his 25+ years. It’s gotten to the point that I’d actually be shocked if Cade were not given every meaningful snap after an absolutely pathetic performance that directly led to a collapse and upset loss to a bitter rival, with an experienced B1G QB on the bench specifically brought in by his OC.

Will he? Not unless Iowa's up by 40
Should he? He should start. Cade is a giant (but not the only) reason Iowa lost. Can't have your QB be that much of a liability.

Sullivan either won’t play or will play limited time. KF has made it clear he wants to give Cade as much time as possible.

Sixth year QB Cade is still getting into game shape from his injury. It is like when Spencer Petras didn’t get spring ball practice under COVID, which set him back 3 years. Hopefully by the end of November, he’s in game shape and can properly evaluated. Until then, he shall get all the snaps.

Iowa will win.

And probably big. Will watch the Tuesday presser first, but most likely I'm giving up the 22.5

Troy will be a snooze fest, but it'll be close enough that Sullivan will never see the field. Thinking a 24-10 game. Kirk will use the reasoning that Cade needs as many snaps as possible.
Yes, because getting as many snaps as possible turned Hill into such a great QB he led Utah Tech to a 77-7 defeat on Saturday. Sadly, Cade's career is over. Too bad KF will play him every snap the rest of the way until/unless he can't even hobble onto the field any more. That's the KF way.

Or maybe Sullivan's dad should write an article to the Chicago Tribune or some other favorite newspaper and say his son is going to transfer unless he starts on Saturday. That strategy worked for CJ Beathard. Nothing else did.

Sadly, I am here.

I like the offense Lester has put together. We’re biting off huge chunks in the running game, and guys are getting open. But if Cade doesn’t see them or have the ability to hit them, then we are severely hampered no matter what play is drawn up.

I would love to have seen a different approach in the goal-to-go scenarios, but when Orange blew up one of the 1st & Goals, it was going to be incredibly difficult to get 7. We need to remember that ISU has a pretty damn good defense too.

But back to your point, what an insult it would be to hire an OC, get a QB that the OC wanted, only to not give him a chance to play. Cade has played 8 quarters this year and has been bad in 5 of them. Not just bad, but completely dismal and if we’re being honest, Deacon Hill-level bad.

Up 40 with 2 minutes to play…..yes, Sullivan will get to hand the ball off once and take a knee twice.

If Iowa is up 50 to zip at around the 2 minute mark, I say Sullivan will get to hand it off at least 3 times.

One can only hope there is a different power dynamic between KF and Lester ( vs the BF-era). That potential difference alone leads me to believe Sullivan may actually get a realistic chance sometime in the next 3 games. How he actually performs of course is another question.

We all saw the practice videos. There is no hope. You dont not play at NW when you are good. They are all bad.

That loss just let all the Air out of the balloon for me...

Now I'm glad that I have kids activities chewing up ALL my Saturday's for the month of September. I'll check the score.
