VOTE/DISCUSS: When Cade is cleared to play, will KF start him? Or, will KF start Sully & rotate Cade in? Or, is it Sully's FULL TIME Job to Lose?

When Cade is healthy again, what will KF do?

  • Cade will start & Sully will be rotated in (like before)

  • Cade won't start but he will play (ie, he will be rotated in)

  • It is Sully's FULL TIME job to lose (ie, if Sully plays well vs Wisc, he's the Full Time QB1)

Results are only viewable after voting.
Reasonable question given the history. I think it is dependent on how Sullivan does. If he can move the team like he did last Saturday, I don't think Cade is coming back in. He did includes his qualifier - "what's best for the team".
Put my vote in the "Don't really care" category.

It does seem like Lester knows what he's doing.

However, if Lester has thought since day 1 that Sully should be starting and KF kept vetoing that idea, I am not sure he's gonna stick around.
Theres one truthful and key word in that statement. (IF). NO ONE here knows that, regardless of whats posted on this forum.

KF WILL play Cade. He doesn't care what we think. He prides himself on loyalty. For him a 8-4 season is just fine.
As always this is the very essence of the insanity that gets posted here. "He doesn't care what WE think? Like what you think that the great coaches past and present take polls from their fans on who should play, or what plays should be run? You think thats how it should be done? Here's a news flash. Were fans. We don't get to decide who plays etc... and the day any good coach starts letting fans decide is the day he SHOULD be fired.....

Crazy to see these NORMAL stat lines again

The last three years we’d see 12 play 35 yard drive punt

Or 4 plays -4 FG

The passing game still looks off but i feel Sullivan can make the easy throws and with KJ that’s all the team needs

There’s no way this team loses to ISU.
Who knows where this team is at with 1 loss going into MSU

And that assumes the loss to OSU….had Iowa put up something when it was close you never know how nerves play factor for a team that’s got the pressure of championships
We may all feel that way, but us feeling that way doesn't make it factual either. "There's NO WAY we lose to ISU". We don't know that. Maybe Sully comes in that particular game and turns the ball over a couple of times, and the entire game changes. Like most here your making your assumption with the benefit of looking at whats happened since. Saying "theres no way", is an unknowable. With each different scenario you have the possibility of a different outcome.

Sounds like Lester makes the decision on who plays. Bad news for the fanaticals who want Kirk gone.

based on yesterday's news conference, I would have to agree with you

Why?

* Lester said you can't turn the ball over like that (Sully had 3 turnovers)

* He said he would let Cade and Sully compete for the starting spot if health was equal

I just hope Sullivan gets a chance to utilize his strengths to their fullest. If Kirk/Lester are afraid of him getting hurt (which would leave Lainez as the next option), I could see them calling fewer RPOs and instructing Sullivan not to run on other plays.

It's not like Kirk hasn't reined in playmaking QBs in the past.
Obviously Sullivan didn't get the word. I kept commenting my friend that Sullivan had to quit running the ball so much, especially with refusing to slide at the end, or else he wouldn't last long. It didn't take a Nostradamus to predict his getting hurt.

i was worried he hurt his shoulder

a sprained ankle is the only thing that's been disclosed

KF is the only coach in college football to use the phrase "backyard football". Hahahahahahahaha. Fanaticals at it again.

but it appears you do ;)
I fully expected this type of post because I expressed my opinion. You may not realize that there are other aspects of this site not connected to who starts at QB for Iowa that I may be interested in

It does make me wonder what was happening in practice; maybe Sully was making the same mistakes?
This is always the unknown that may fans always skip right over, because they somehow think they know more then they possibly could. I have no idea what Lester has been working with. Obviously Sully has added a dimension with his running. We don't know what the coaches have seen with his decision making. I do wonder though if he was consistently good at NW then why did he not win the job there last spring. There was even talk he was running in the third spot there. Too many things that we don't know behind the scenes that play into those decisions....

I don't agree with it but Cade will get the starts if healthy. KF has proven to be super loyal at QB for some reason. I would start Sullivan from here on out but that is me.
