Presidents and funerals

I'm confused by this post, is it "sitting" that clarifies it?

Google told me:

"Four out of the past seven funerals for a Supreme Court justice have either had the president or vice president in attendance."

Also, he apparently is going to visit him on Friday.

He's obviously trying to bridge the political divide. Didn't he say that was his biggest regret in his state of the Union address?

no president has never missed a funeral of a sitting Supreme Court justice until now.
I'm not even sure whether this is a double negative, it's so poorly written/well-crafted. Your idiocy has beaten me. In fact, most of you mouth breathers are winning a war of attrition. Jesus Christ.

Would of, could of, should of studied more harder, eye guess.

That's the point. Given the various political factors, skipping the funeral can only be interpreted as an intentional dis.

I really do think this is it, they want to stupid the country into submission.

I swear some of you refuse to ever stop crying. What happened to the strong, manly, stoic, practical, conservatives? They have been overrun by babies and brats without an ounce of sense. The pussification of America is on full display.
Perhaps they just don't post in these threads since it will take the inevitable turn that this one and others like it have.

I do think it would have been a nice gesture for Obama to attend. If you want to as Obama has said, try to change the rhetoric between liberals and conservatives, then this would seem to be a low hanging fruit opportunity.

The link below is the funerals that Obama has attended and those where a different representative has gone to.

Dis to whom?

The guy who's dead and will never know that he's being dissed? And since when did septuagenarians use that word?

And wasn't Scalia known to be kind of a dick, and even relish in that fact? Maybe he just didn't like the guy.

Ruth Bader-Ginsberg thought of him as on of her best friends so I will take her word that he was a descent guy over yours that he was not.

Or any threads. Or vote in any elections. The Daddy party is a dead if it ever existed.

So if one particular person liked someone, they couldn't possibly be disliked by anyone else or even be a bad guy?

I bet Hitler had some friends, too. By all accounts he was actually a decent guy face-to-face, when he wasn't ranting psychotically about Jews and such.

How much of a retard are you, seriously?

Also, you'll go ahead and take Bader Ginsburg's opinion on someone else personally whom you've never met at face value, but I have a sneaking suspicion that you feel quite differently when it comes to her legal and political views. Why the double standard? Either she's an astute judge of things who's opinion is worthy of immense respect and deference on all issues, or she's not.

I'll hang up and listen.

Everything I have heard or read about Scalia indicates he was one hell of a nice guy whom virtually everybody liked.

What do you know about pussification? ;)

Really, you thought you needed to use the retard card? Using your logic then everyone must be a dick because Hitler had some friends.

I quoted Bader Ginsberg precisely because she was at odds with Scalia on the law plenty of times yet found common ground with him outside of that. Such a relationship that she named him one her best buddies. Do you think Bader Ginsberg would have had a friend that went on "rants against Jews"?

Yes, I don't agree with Bader Ginsberg on a lot of her opinions but unlike you I recognize the fact that people can disagree and not disliked each other on a personal level. A point that does not surprise me went right over your head given that you had to use the retard statement in you post. .

Usually when people who disagree with you talk about you with respect it is not because you are "ranting psychotically about Jews and such". Do you have link to your accusations or are you the one who saw these rants?

I will leave you with this statement from Joe Biden

Statement by Vice President Biden on the Passing of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia

Jill and I send our deepest condolences to Maureen and the entire Scalia family on the loss of their beloved husband, father, and grandfather. Justice Scalia and I had fundamental disagreements about how the Supreme Court interprets the Constitution, but we shared a belief that sharp debates, tough questions, and deep respect for the adversarial process was an essential part of our judicial system and our democracy. That’s how our rule of law—forged with the deep principles and convictions of justices, and laid out in majority decisions and minority dissents—becomes the model for the world. For the country, Justice Scalia will be remembered as one of our most influential justices, who inspired and challenged generations of students, clerks, lawyers, and judges. And for so many, he will be remembered as a mentor, dear friend, and a man devoted to his faith and his family, who will miss him most of all, andwhowe will keep in our prayers.

Everything I have heard or read about Scalia indicates he was one hell of a nice guy whom virtually everybody liked.

He was known to be a dick to his own colleagues in his opinions, as well as in his interactions with people who disagreed with him on various issues (a quick read of his New York Times obituary showed a handful of public incidents that showed him to be petulant and irascible).

In fact, the stories of his friendships with ideological opponents were typically framed in the light of "I can't believe this reasonable person actually gets along personally with this bloviating douchebag."

I will stand by my suspicion that he was disliked by many, and only had a handful of friends and acquaintances that could actually stand him for long periods of time.

It could also be that as a person gets older the definition of a friend changes from a person you choose to spend time with to a person who will talk to you and keep you awake.
