PSU… giving a spanking to SMU

Kind of enjoy B1G teams putting the hurt on these other conferences. Hopefully OSU does the same to Tennessee
Well Tenn is not just in another conf. They are a top team in as you know the SEC. I will not be surprised to see OSU lay a big dump at home.

And yes, SMU and the ACC not close to the top 4 of the Big 10.

Disagree with this. IU was fake. If they had beaten any of SMU, Clemson, or Miami, that would have been one win against a ranked opponent, which would have been one more than they had all season.

He's right. The Clemson beating will likely resemble that of SMU's. ACC was junk this year. SMU would have been lucky to finish in the upper half of the B1G and yet went undefeated in that crappy conference.

Surprised is about the least accurate term I have for this. The same way it'll be when ASU plays. I fully expect them to get rolled on as well. Scary part is that the ACC is perceptively a better conference than the B12 to boot. Mostly due to name recognition of teams historically.

The difference in quality will only perpetually increase yearly between the big two and the rest. Outside of a rare upset, this will be the norm going forward.

I know SMU, like a few other schools, apparently have a lot of outside significant NIL money but it isn't sustainable when the money is coming from rich investors not related to the school like Saban said yesterday. They're going to have expectations for players they help bring in but with no control of the player transferring or low production without a contract. They'll become more uninvolved as a result unless they're Phil Knight type of rich. SMU, like all schools outside of the Big Two needs stable/guaranteed money from a major conference to maintain.

TV money per team in the B1G far outweighs outside investors outside of the Uber rich. Most people simply aren't rich enough to bankroll their team so haphazardly without wanting immediate results.

Blowouts happen a ton in CFB in big bowl games and road games. It’s not surprising at all. People will use it to validate their own biases too. CFB is as close as we get to politics in sports. It’s super tribal. Also, in no way think ASU deserved a bye. I’m hoping they surprise some folks though. They are such a good story.

On the money part, it’s true. Texas Tech of all places is kicking butt in the portal and beating USC, OSU and the SEC for guys. They have a new billionaire donor with oil money. The new CFB world is evolving rapidly. Talent is spreading out way more. The top of the BIG/SEC will always be the class of CFB but some teams people look down on in here are better and going to better than many think.

NDSU-SDSU is a GREAT game. I highly recommend watching that game instead. So refreshing watching actual student-athletes play, being instructed by coaches more interested in their players than their paychecks, and fan bases that are extremely loyal, but not total assholes.
Hear are the last 3 head coaches prior to Polasek who was more interested in their career and pay than the NDS players. Craig Bohl left for Wyoming, Chris Klieman left for Kansas St, and Matt Entz left to become an assistant at USC. And of course Polasek left as the OC to take the offensive line job at Iowa. Their coaches are more interested in their players than their paychecks is complete BS.

Agree ! Ryan Cooper Choker Day is still their HC

lol, ok

I don’t think Tenn will beat OSU. OSU barely lost to the best team in the country and then lost to their biggest rival in Michigan. I think they handle Tenn at home pretty easily. JMO
Shhh...that's not what the recent media narrative have been pushing the last week that I've heard. Apparently OSU isn't any good suddenly and nobody that isn't a Tennessee fan will even show up to the game. Their season is already over and Day has been underperforming and should be fired.

I think you're right. OSU didn't suddenly begin to suck. They are still one of the best funded teams in college football with one of the largest alumni bases on the planet. If Tennessee thinks this will be an easy game... they've already lost.

Should be a good game because Tennessee is a good team but people thinking OSU can't win this are crazy.
