Punting

I think this was brought up before, and I think someone indicated they weren't related at all, but I'm not sure.

Oooh, good one. Which jr. highs because I'm going to make sure we recruit them, in fact, I will demand that one them punt against Nebraska!
Head down to the youth soccer field and you could probably take your pick.

The trouble is, we're going for it on 4th down because we have no punter. When we get one, no more risky 4th down attempts

Go to your local football field this afternoon and stand at the 35 yard line and see if you can punt the ball into the end zone. I guarantee I can, yet Iowa has two punters at the Big 10 level can't do this in a game.

Is that supposed to be humorous? Sarcasm? Yeah we don't punt well, but you think that a 10 yr. old on a soccer field can kick in D1 football?
He's dead serious. You obviously haven't been to the local youth soccer pitch lately. There are some really good players down there that would help the Hawks punt game immensely!

Not true, our punter is rugby style,on the run punts. He's 7 yards from the Los

You would have to stand at the 50 and kick it in the endzone if you are trying to kick it 35 yards. If I confused you on that then you need to rethink your stance. It is my bet you have no chance in billy-hell to do it.

Question, what are the rules for linemen going downfield. I realize we do the rugby kick to get our gunners downfield but do the lineman need to stay at the line until it is punted

Punting has been atrocious.

But do you realize that we’re just about two yards behind the average in the B1G.

But I do wonder if we’d be better off with Stanley punting all the time.

I have been saying stanley should punt for a couple weeks. Most people laughed at me. Dude was an all conf pu yet in high school and could do the pooch. The other team would have to line up in a non traditional return or he could flip it to a TE covered 1on1.

At the 50 I would be pretty close, but I was referring to the 3 punts of 25 yards or less our punters uncorked in the division one college football game yesterday.

went looking at the last 2 games
punter had 9 punts for a total of 362 yards basically a 40 ypp avg against Wisconsin
6 punts into the wind 178 yards basically just under 30 ypp.

all you expert punter grab your FB and go see how far you can kick the damn ball into the wind in 40 degree temperature, then come back tells all how easy it is. do not forget to keep track of the yardage.

also remember you don't have people out there ready to knock you on your ass.

Can't you please go play on the interstate? If not today, try to this Wednesday.

In college it doesn’t matter unless it’s a pass. In the NFL I believe only guys who are eligible receivers can go down field.

Does anyone know whether Colten Rastetter is related to Bruce Rastetter, bigshot donor and former president of the Iowa Board of Reagents? I can think of no other reason someone who performs so poorly has a spot on the team.
It is his nephew. He normally would never have seen the field after that OSU stunt but a couple billion dollars can get your nephew on the field. He is also on scholarship.

Calling for open try-outs for punter for the rest of the season. I have a hard time believing that there isn't another person on the current roster that was their high school's punter. Every punter in the Iowa high school championship games were better than the Iowa starter.

He is not on scholarship. The rest of your post is also bullshit.

Rule #2. Don't rely on a punter to compensate for what the offense couldn't get done. The idea is to keep the punter off the field.

There is a player on the team that was one of the states best punters. Two years ago, on a very good high school team

FWIW Pu's punter only averaged 2 yards more than Iowa's even with the misplayed by Vandy 68 yarder. Just say'n punting into the wind yesterday was brutal. 31 yards to 29 yards.

The wind was brutal but those were the cause of his bad points. His shortest punts were straight up shanks when punting normal. The only reason the rugby punts had better yardage was he got good rolls on them.

I'm assuming you are talking the +35 and not a 65 yard punt? :) I think half this board could do that! Makes ZERO sense to me and Gersonde has a full ride.
