Those guards aren't going to cut it against more athletic teams.

Iowa came came out with their patented charmin ultra soft defense in the first half but they completely exposed Purdue guards in the second half.

If Iowa could have shot a half assed decent percentage in the first half they would have been in it at the end.

Eddy is phenomenal but Purdue guards will get chewed up in the tournament .

Too bad Bohannon didn't have some of the other things in his game like Braden Smith.

If Purdue makes the Elite8 they will be overachieving. Play Edey straight up and defend the other guys....same recipe Oregon used against Garza/Iowa...the supporting cast of Purdue is not athletic enough to get shots vs good defense. They can make open 3's if unguarded.

B1G as a lot of good, not great teams.

I'm not sure how you can say that. Loyer and Smith destroyed our guards in that game going for 17 and 24 respectively. By comparison Ulis, Perkins and Cmac scored 15 total. Smith has way better handles than anybody on the Hawks. I'd love to have that freshman.

Yeah, while Edey has improved, they honestly aren't that much better than they were last year.

The problem is the vast majority of CBB, including Iowa, got worse.....

But yes, they will probably get bounced early unless they get gifted the right matchups.

You seem to be confusing Purdue guards being weak with Iowas guards being good.

The two things have no relationship to eachother.

Connor is turning back into a pumpkin, he played way too many minutes today.

Purdue couldn't get the ball across half court half the time in the second half. Too small, slow and unathletic.

If they can get the ball across half court then they get wide open shots because of Eddy.

If that Purdue team runs into an athletic team like a TCU its game over.

They'd be upper middle of the pack in the b12.

When Purdue is knocking down 3's, I'm not sure there is a team that can beat them. Especially when they are locked in defensively. Didn't think Purdue was good defensively tonight. Slow rotations.

OP You may have a point to some degree….with that being said when a team is up by double digits for most of the game, they can play differently in how to bring the ball up the court.

I feel the difference was Kris M shooting 2 air balls and Connor 3 air balls! 5 possessions that are basically a turnover.

Im not claiming Iowa is a better, not a chance.

Just that Purdue will get bounced early just like they and most other BIG teams usually do.

This conference is way down and it usually doesn't perform well to begin with.

One bad game ve pressure 1 game after a gut wrenching lost at iu doesn't concern me. Anything less than an elite 8 is disappointing. Maybe Purdue can get a 1 and play to their seed like they usually do under Painter.

I can see where you are coming from…..you aren’t necessarily wrong!! Out of 68 teams quite a few are gonna get bounced. Time will tell!

How do decide if the conference is way down? Is it still third nationally with a predicted 8 teams in right now? Yah we had a couple bad tourneys so what. It is a small sample size in total. We also have had good non con results in order to get so many teams in. Illinois beat a big 12 team, iowa beat a big 12 team, becky badger took kansas to ot, purdue beat marquette, iu beat xavier, maryland beat some guys, I dont think this Iowa team is way down compared to prior units just from watching gameplay.

Id don't see a lot of high caliber teams in this league.

Indiana is probably the one that id pick to go furthest.

Hard to understand all the good Purdue teams that have not made it to a final 4. I really like Painter. He isn't a weazel or whiner. Just a great coach. I wish them the best and hope they will do well in the tourney.

Eddy is great, but more on defense than offense. I thought Smith was fantastic for a freshman, I hope Harding turns out as well for us. I feel like Purdue is a final 4 team, but vulnerable to a team with a center that can play Eddy straight up, or out run them.

No one can play edey straight up. Iowa triple teamed him, so he passed out. He doesn't have to get his. He's willing to pass out for the win

I think you're mixing up the 2 teams. Iowa has mastered the art of giving up the wide open corner 3.

Right. Edey is no Luka Garza on offense, he’s got limited interior moves and no outside game. Ogundule played him straight up and did fine.
