I'll be the first to call for Peyton Mansell
No, I am a huge supporter of KF.You are going to be butthurt (or Assalley’d) no matter what KF does.
imo, fair to say ...he needs to loosen up and be more aggressiveI just think from what I've seen in the first two games, Stanley was grossly overrated.

I think I'm with you on this one. Between his bio, spring game and last week, Mansell deserves the start vs UNI next week. If it goes wrong then fall back to Stanley, but as of now Stanley just isn't very impressive. He's not horrible by any means, I just want to see more of what Mansell can do.I'll be the first to call for Peyton Mansell

i look forward to checking back in on this thread after the game
A spine in Stanley...? I agreeCall for a spine instead.
You're right about that, but would it hurt to see a little bit more after what you've seen from Stanley? We've seen 1 series from Mansell against NIU's 2nds.
ISU has a good defense.
Stanley has thrown a few in the dirt, but he's also had some good throws. You can't give up on a starter 2 games in. What does that say to the rest of the locker room to bench a good qb after 2 starts for an unproven QB?You're right about that, but would it hurt to see a little bit more after what you've seen from Stanley?

I see your point. My point is that those 2 games are home games against what we as fans should consider lesser opponents. The hawks imo have great options at QB, this early in the season, lets see what one of them can do in relation.Stanley has thrown a few in the dirt, but he's also had some good throws. Hasn't he been put "more" in charge of checks at the line this season? At this time, Stanley has the most upside.
Besides, a lot of it is the predictability of the play calling that puts him in tough situations.
He needs to get better but changing QBs isn't the answer.
Why is this your first time on a message board? Everything everyone has posted has validation. I’m glad you’re happy with the Hawks performance though.
A spine in Stanley...? I agree

But let 5-ish plays you saw from Mansell determine everything? BTW, pass and catch is a two-person equation...I just think from what I've seen in the first two games, Stanley was grossly overrated.
Edit: Don't let ONE play this game erase what happened week 1 & 99% of 2

The fact that people are calling for Wiegers back shows how psychotic some people are on this board. No patience, no belief, even after a win. Honestly it is just sad
This.By any objective measure, Stanley has been seriously underwhelming. Any other position that was being played as poorly as QB has been the first two games would be up for grabs. Frankly, I thought Mansell would have been a good option for Iowa starting the second half today.
We all remember Stanley's brilliant ISU and OSU performances from last year, but what about Wisconsin, Michigan State, Northwestern, and Purdue? We gave him the benefit of the doubt because it was his first year as a starter, so what's the excuse now?
Did you watch Stanley's backup from last year, Tyler Wiegers, today? He led Eastern Michigan to a 20-19 win @ Purdue throwing for over 300 yards, including a 75-yard TD pass, a 50-yard TD pass that was dropped in the end zone, and a laser on 4th and 15 late in the game for the first down that led to the game-winning FG. Wiegers looked far better than Stanley. There is simply no comparison.
We all know that there's no way Mansell gets a shot to win the job, and the only way he plays if it's a blowout or Stanley gets hurt. So we'd better hope Stanley figures it out, and fast.
And this.I don't get why so many Iowa fans just try to find any reason not to knock Stanley. He's got now what like 15 games under his belt and has shown little improvement. He still overthrows or underthrows far too many guys. I can't recall how many times I yell at the TV for him to throw it when he then takes a hit after 7 seconds.
To raise concern about Stanley at this point is fair. It has nothing to do with what Mansell has or hasn't done. It has nothing to do with the WRs have or haven't done. It's on him and he hasn't looked good outside one OSU game.
I don't believe anyone on here meant to bash himI think it will be good for Mansell to get some snaps against UNI and work on getting him ready to step in if there's an injury.
Stanley has some issues, but he's got two seasons to go and has proven he can lead the team back and win Big games. Mel Kiper is nuts, but that not under Nate's control. He's a college QB that when he's on can carry the team on his back with our wide receivers.
He's a Hawk. We should support him not bash him.
