Question about Fran

Last I saw, Kakert had posted a list where he was a top 10 player among an elite camp for kids his age. From my inexpert opinion after looking at fair amount of video, he seems like a really good ball handling point guard type, with less athleticism than PMac but more of a solid build with a really good looking 3 point shot. He seems like the best prospect of the 3, by far. He’s 6’8”, so he’s still growing into his body.

Jack is very skilled and have heard they expect him to be 6'10" + when he's done growing. I think you're going to see a Nikola Jokic type big man when he's done filling out. Can handle the ball and pass as well as has very good face up game with range.

Hope you are right about JM, but so far 0 - 2 with MC's.

Too much complaining about PMac. He would play heavy minutes(20+) for every team in the B1G. He’s still far from a finished product, yes agreed but he has skills you can’t teach. I agree with most on here about CMac. He tries he’s just very limited. Keegan, Kris, PMac, and Rebraca should only play the 3-4 spots, although I’ve yet to see Rebraca shoot enough to decide whether or not he should be playing up to 20 minutes. It seems obvious to me now we need Josh and Riley get all of the minutes at the 5 until it shows they are getting worse. Will it cost us wins? Maybe but if we don’t have a guy to contest shots and rebound we are going to lose anyway most games. Play em to get them better and hopefully they improve quickly.

The 2024-2025 season is a long way down the road.....

So, I guess the question on the table really boils down to "Is fan apathy enough to make a coaching change?" In football, I would say "yes" - Men's basketball? I'm not sure........
You really think that there is enough fan apathy on the FB side? Very wrong. Great crowds for most of the home games this year. Home schedule next year is even better, Kinnick will be electric. Iowa would be committing program suicide by firing Ferentz with the number of wins the program has over the past 6 years. Does that mean the program can't/shouldn't improve, of course not. But there is not fan apathy on the FB side. Basketball, one could make a convincing argument.

Counting this year, his youngest son is a HS Frosh, that’s four years until he’s a freshman at Iowa. Four (maybe five years) in college. So 8-9 years away.

However, that leaves plenty of time for Connor to get some coaching time under his belt and I could see Fran turning the program over to Connor in 8-9 years.

No way Pmac gets 20 minutes on any of the top 5 big ten teams. Maybe Nebraska. Maybe.

Sorry - my post was poorly written. Even w/ all of the bitching about Kirk and Brian, people turn out for football. Definitely no fan apathy there. My question was from a hypothetical perspective......apathy in football would likely get a coach fired because there is too much money lost.....

Is an apathic basketball fanbase enough to force a coaching change?

I disagree. IMO Pmac would be getting substantial minutes on a lot of teams. I'd even go so far as to say he would probably be a better player if he was coached by someone that emphasizes rebounding and defense over offense. He obviously has the athleticism to do it so it's a mental thing. There is a reason why teams like Wisconsin and MSU are good defensive teams every year. The coaches demand it of them and it's the only way they see the floor.
