Question for Anti-DEI types

Not every white person has been rolling. That's life, and for immigrants who came to this country of any stripe, they did it and are doing it.
More horseshit. That’s not “life”. It was a targeted, purposeful, deliberate strategy to deny access to wealth to people of color. The result of that strategy is that the average black family today possesses 5% of the wealth of the average white family. Claiming anything else is a bald-faced lie.

Do better, try and do better. No discrimination should be allowed, base it on qualifications. You can’t fix the current problems with looking past merit and striving for diversity over qualifications

Interesting comments on my LinkedIn this morning:

DEI is for the White Guy who is a veteran, the White Guy leader who is losing his hearing and wears an hearing aid. The White Guy amputee who served his country and wants to keep serving. The White Guy who has ADHD and is brilliant at his job, and he is different. The White Guy who learned to speak sign language because his parents are deaf and he helps translate at a hospital. The White Guy who is overweight and can't tie his boots on the manufacturing plant and needs extra time. The White Guy who speaks fluent Spanish and is Mexican. The White Guy who is a felon and still has a job. These are all DEI real stories and includes all you all.

DEI is one of the most misunderstood aspects of business today so what does DEI actually mean?

DEI is not identity based hiring.

DEI is not discrimination.

DEI is ensuring your company is able to succeed in an ever changing world.

DEI is ensuring that talented people are given a shot to showcase their skills and how they can add to the team.

Successful companies have people that look at and solve problems in different ways. If everyone has the same background, the odds are is that they will look at and solve problems in the same way.

Successful companies recognize that the world is becoming more diverse every day and adjusting to ensure that diversity is represented in their organization to better serve their customers. If everyone looks the same, you are not serving all of your customers.

At the end of the hiring process, the most qualified person will get the job. Sometimes that qualification is not "experience", but instead what the team needs to meet it's goals.

I talk about "culture add", not "culture fit".

That is what DEI helps promote. That is what DEI is about.

What if the current system does not allow a certain group to meet qualifications?

Give me an example. I would use the South Carolina lawsuit over a very simple math test, as DEI gone to far. Again, most of the impedance to learning is from family and friends, not the educational system.

Oh FFS, what the hell is all that. From the other thread if our kids can't even read, how the fvck do we expect them to remember all that shit? xe/xem, ze/zir, ey/em, fae/faer, ve/ver... I don't even know how to pronounce most of that. I stick by my previous comments that adults are free to do whatever they hell they want, but let me add a "but". BUT, don't expect me to play along. If you can't handle being called him or her, then fine. Introduce yourself and I will use your gd name.

I had to look that up. What in the entire hell. Man, we focus on some serious dumbass shit in this country. Not to mention we're about to have it led by incompetents for 8 straight years.

It's been much longer than 8 years unfortunately. The end result of solving all real problems is creating new problems of our own design. Human nature in funny like that.

I'm late to this thread but the biggest problem I see with DEI is what I call corporate DEI, where they don't understand what DEI truly is and they result into tokenism. Specifically for people of color and women, and that's just wrong and has contributed to the negatively of DEI. If people would fully understand DEI and it was implemented correctly, we'd all agree it was a good thing.

If the left actually believed this they'd be anti DEI. Pure nonsense.
