Question for the HBOT skiers

I haven’t been to Monarch because we’ve gotten really good deals on Ikon or Epic passes. I’ve heard really good things, though. Sunlight is another one people seem to really like.

Sunlight is great but is about 4-4.5 hours from Denver. Also. If you are good you will get bored with it pretty fast. It is super affordable though.

Yeah, the fact that it’s almost to Grand Junction has kept me from making the trek out there. It looks nice and is relatively uncrowded.

They’re apparently going to make some significant upgrades in the near future, so we’ll see if it stays cheap.

fortunately i have a friend with a house in town, a nephew that goes to school there and a friend that owns the cabin in the middle of bridger mtn. Other than the drive it's cheap and great skiing.
we take the train out of minneapolis to whitefish to ski from time to time as well.
Small world. My niece goes to Montana State.

My wife is from Maine and skied a lot growing up - always in the icy northeast conditions. When we lived in Texas I took her to the Rockies in New Mexico and she loved skiing powder. So next year we'd like to head out to the Rockies for a ski trip. Does anyone here have advice on approachable resorts (ie: not ridiculously large, expensive, and crowded) within a couple of hours of Denver?
Copper Mountain, Winter Park

Maybe a dumb question - if you're just a couple years into skiing and solidly committed to green and blue runs, is Colorado or some such even worth considering? I'm not doing the pizza wedge anymore but I'm also not parallel skiing.

Hmmm… I’m going to have to look into this. Any recommendations? Unfortunately I have 3 kids that love skiing. That makes any trip like this pretty pricey for me.
Kids under 12 ski free at Steamboat with an adult ticket I believe. A real town that was there before it became a resort...

At A-Basin, later in the year you bring a grill and fire it up near the parking lot and bring your own beer and burgers. By mid/late May, bikini clad girls might want to join you...

Keystone still remains my favorite. Used to have a buddy with a duplex in Dillon that we got dirt cheap. 2 gondolas if it's cold and wind, but almost 3 separate mountains with lots of groomed blue/greens and mostly high speed lifts. If it's warm, night skiing is awesome. No lines, just back to the top on the gondola as fast as you want. No lines at night and a little cheaper ticket...
