Randy Peterson: ISU bad...because they're so good!

I totally agree on Wiggington. I think Prohm really mishandled him by using him off the bench once he came back from injury. You could tell by his body language didn't always seem engaged. But just like with Cook Prohm knew the odds of Wiggington staying 4 years were slim to none as a 5* recruit. Let alone lucky he got him 2 years and wasn't a one and done.
I don't buy Register Randy's article on giving Prohm a pass. As stated he dang well knew Wiggington would eventually leave early. Shayok was a transfer he knew he would get for only 1 year. Cam Lard was a head case he brought in and mishandled with the writing on the wall with his behavior. Really Horton-Tucker is the one player he could say he was counting on to have for this years team that they don't have.
But then again to play devils advocate for ISU look at Iowa. Also lost an expected returning starter with Moss. Iowa also lost a guy early to the pros with Cook. As for injury bug with Haliburton not getting any sympathy from Hawk fans with JBo, Nunge, PMac all lost for the season due to injuries who played in fewer games plus CJ who has missed 5 games already. Yet I don't see Randy writing any articles for Iowa on the same stuff.
They have a lousy record but XF has missed a lot of time with mono and maybe another injury.
They should get through their first two district games ok but they have to go through Pella to get to state which will be tough.
The last couple years they had Cole Henry (UNI) in addition to XF. He was a really good HS player.
Yup, and going off of this, it's the head coaches responsibility for all of this. No development from some other players too. Jacobsen, Nixon, Solo, and Lewis have all shown very little development to where they were when they were younger. Griffin is a soph, and not sure I see it there either.
Randy has nothing else. I feel bad for him. He really has zero. Seriously ISU is 3-17 against big brother in the last 5 years and coming off an 0-4 this year with all games/matches in Ames. So not only do they have to travel to big bro next year their attendance will also suffer since Iowa is the only time they show up. The football team severely underperformed, the basketball team is a dumpster fire and the wrestling team is fixing matches to get people qualified. Oh and their fearless leader is writing letters and trolling the fanbase. I mean objectively that entire athletic program (outside of cross country) is an unmitigated disaster. So Randy doesn’t have much to go on.
Is this a result of Prohms recruiting tactics? Is he telling guys to only come to ISU for one or two years? Seemed like Wigginton knew he was leaving before his soph season was up. Xavier Foster has made comments about two years apparently. I wonder if he is selling them on that idea and so they are just planning on leaving before graduation.
