So Iowa is 20-3 in November since 2019, same as OSU. Probably at least 10-11 of those are rode victories. Late in the year with injuries mounting most seasons. Best record the last five years in any month of the season. Remember Sept is the month we play non cons against supposed walk overs. What gives? Good coaching, culture, what?

When is the last time Iowa lost a nonconference game in September to someone other than Iowa State? There’s usually an early conference game in late September Iowa loses.

And to answer your question, Iowa used to play in the Big Ten West where Minnesota and Nebraska were scheduled in November.

It's better to not lose to average schools like UCLA and Michigan State.

Nice post rook. So in your infininte wisdom why should Iowa be better the Nebraska, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, NW in the month of Nov over a 5 year span. Clue: they are our peers in the league, and their playing the same teams we are...
For one, Iowa has beaten all of those teams fairly consistently since 2019.

Second, it depends on scheduling. Off the top of my head. I don’t recall Iowa playing many tough games in November in recent memory. A lot of those other teams might be playing Ohio State, Michigan, and Penn State in November. I don’t know without Googling the schedules and I am too lazy for that.

Regardless, I don’t think it’s a significant statistic.

Super. Here's the point if you want it broken down. So much of what we hear on this board is what a dumb ass Kirk is, and how the game has passed him by. So, if all that is true then taking just the last five year (the game has passed him by) then why do we keep beating all these other teams which are in FACT our peers? Why? Remember now Kirks a dumb ass and he's lost most of what he know about football. And just to clarify OSU and most years Michigan are not our peers. Never have been and probably never will be. for Iowa or most of the rest of the league..

I don’t understand the point you are trying to make. Frankly, I am not sure you even know what point you’re trying to make.

You are essentially arguing with yourself. No one that I am aware of thinks Kirk has “lost most of what he knows about football.” To be honest, I think many Iowa fans would be happy if he did forget most of what he knows about football as it relates to offense.

Regardless, this is silly. Iowa has had stellar defenses and special teams and an atrocious offense from 2021 on. Kirk unapologetically put all of his chips on his unqualified son and the result was the Iowa offense became a national punchline and statistically about the worst in college football. Somehow, someway, Iowa racked up a bunch of yawn-inducing wins over teams like NW, Nebraska, etc. DESPITE their anemic offense. In turn, every time they played a legitimate top 25 team, they got embarrassed.

What is so hard to figure out?

This is just where things are here. We get a solid win on the road, play a pretty solid all around game in all phases, and its negative, negative. Everyone we beat sucks, We should be better then every team in the league not named OSU or Oregon. I just don't get where all this superiority complex comes from. I mean if our coach and players are in FACT as bad as some post here on a regular basis, then why do we keep beating these other teams?

Your absolutely correct on one thing. There's no reason to even have a conversation on here. The guy could win 9-10 games every year and none of it matters because everyone we play sucks, right. I mean thats what this comes down to. And yet the OTHER teams in the league play the SAME teams and they don't win 9-10 games a year, but Our guys a dumb ass while other teams go from coach to coach to coach..

Who cares? How many natty's has Iowa played for vs what OSU has played for? Playoffs? How many BIG titles does Iowa have vs OSU? Since we're doing November, let's do December and January records.

Iowa has a great November record since 2019. In the scheme of things, what does it matter?

I don’t know. Maybe posts like this is the point he’s trying to make.

Are you suggesting Iowa should be using Ohio State as the benchmark for how successful the football program is? Jesus.

Sorry, OP used OSU as the benchmark. To answer your question, yes, OSU (and Michigan) should be the benchmark.

Not hardly. I'm saying other the OSU or Michigan we play good football in Nov. Better the anyone else in the league. Really, just forget it. This is just this board now. We win, play a good game, and none of it matters. The games don't matter, we don't play anyone anyway, (supposedly) hada, hada, hada..Why bother watching next week..

November doesn't matter when you have losses in Sept. and Oct. that prevent you from playing meaningful games in Dec.

Get over yourself. It is what it is. It is also what people point to when they talk KF.

Gotta be both unfortunately. I’m going to say something I think you’d agree with. Losing 4 plus games sucks. I’m pissed actually and it’s not acceptable to me. I also don’t care if KF retires. I really don’t, but…

I’m not dumb enough to think we will automatically do better, nor are we abnormal.

Everyone’s trying to win…I expect our players to play better. It’s really not complicated 🤷‍♂️

Classic kc deflection lol
How exactly. How may games do we play in Dec? 2 in the last 5 years? Other then OSU and Michigan in our league, (the outliers) who has won a game in Dec? Here'e a hint: we aren't OSU , Michigan, or Oregon, and neither is anybody else in our league, and yet you guys want Iowa to be held to that standard which isn't going to happen. Not on a regular basis anyway..

Tiresome isn’t it…as I’ve said, nothing a 5 year losing streak won’t fix. I’m actually looking forward to KF retiring. It will be my most relaxed viewing in my life. We keep winning, bully for me.

We lose a lot….I get to chuckle at these guys complaining about the new coach 😊

Also, that was the benchmark Hayden Fry used, when the BIG was the Big2 Little 8.
I think Iowa should strive to compete for conference championships. I just don’t think competing at the level of Ohio State on a consistent basis is a realistic expectation.

With that said, yes, the football program is stagnant just like the basketball program. Recruiting is not good and there just isn’t any real excitement for the future. This is where Kirk needs to humble himself, put the program ahead of his self interests for once, and step away sooner than later.
