Exactly, I didn't say I was against TnT. But when you portray a certain image, how bad does that cripple the size of the pool you can recruit from? Iowa still has the brand name and walking into a house with Iowa gear on means a ton. But how many more top kids are slowly not even listing Iowa in the top 5. Iowa should be in everyone P4P elite kids top 5 even if you really weren't fully on board.
Its time many realize this staff unintentionally paints themselves into a smaller recruiting corner. IMO that why we see less Iowa on lists and we see more misses on targets.

Nonsense. This is an old, old video and Tom has grown and mellowed plenty since he became head coach. Secondly, it's just plain ignorant to state the Tom coaches everyone to be like Gilman. Just take a look at Iowa's roster over the Brands years and you'll find every type of personality under the sun - McD, Cory Clark, Borschel, Morningstar, Brooks, Marion, on and on.

I bolded two parts. The first paragraph is straight garbage. If your impression of the Brands is that of when they were competitors or young assistants then you haven't been around them. Terry has made his name working with olympians, adults. Wrestlers who are already as skilled as any in America go with Terry because he's the best coach out there. He sees and coaches skills that no other coach would even recognize were aspects affecting the match.
The second part does hint at a problem that may actually exist. Tom has given a lot of credit to Morningstar as being a great recruiter, and he is. Unfortunately, when our top recruiter is not the face of the program and he has to recruit against head coaches they can sell the same type of crap that you posted in the first paragraph.

Being over the top and seeming over the top are not necessarily the same thing. And convincing someone that another person is over the top is even different. Just because people think or accuse the Brands of being over the top, does not mean they are. However, Tom eluded to the belief that they had to overcome some negative perceptions the program.. He seems to be trying to do that.
If you cannot convince yourself that some people do not think the world of TnT and have negative opinions of them, then you seriously need to take off your yellow and black glasses, because you are missing a lot of obvious information in your life.
