with Michigan State's loss last weekend that makes Iowa the best team in the best conference.

SACKS
T.J. Watt, Wisconsin 2.50
Kevin Maurice, Nebraska 2.00
Parker Hesse, Iowa 2.00
Matt Nelson, Iowa 2.00

also of note.... Iowa's defense did not allow a Rushing TD against Rutgers last weekend.

I haven't followed any of these previous postings..Does "last game played", mean between these teams, or are you talking about each of these individual team's performance from the previous week?

I'm asking based on the projection of Illinois over Nebby..

last time the 2 teams played against each other.... Iowa beat Northwestern last year... therefore they are the projected winner.
and last year Illinois beat Nebraska
~thanks

I have to say .....projecting a winner in this year's contest based solely on which team won last year's contest between the same two teams is one of the strangest methods for predicting the outcome I have ever seen.

Are you taking bets? I'll take Nebraska over Illinois for $50

I am 100% anti-betting...
all you have to do is go back and look at Ronnie Harmon and the 1986 Rose Bowl to see why I am 100% anti-betting.

betting on sports is why there is corruption in sports.

I would place illegal recruiting practices far above sports betting as a corruptive influence on college sports. ... and for that we can thank the NCAA due to their arbitrary and inconsistent rule enforcement.

I would agree that illegal recruiting is a bad thing.... the thing betting and illegal recruiting have in common is money.

but I'm with you on the idea that there needs to be a lot of things cleaned up regarding the NCAA.

those were not predictions... they were projections based on who won the last time those teams met.

There is no real difference between a projection and a prediction, is there?

By definition, a projection is a declaration of an expected outcome which, coincidently, essentially describes a "prediction"

In other words, a projection of a win means that a win is expected. In your system, an expectation is a de facto prediction because there are no other variables which could influence the expectation.

no no... the projection is based on the result from the previous meeting..
the projection is who won the last time the 2 teams played...
it is not a prediction for who will win when the 2 teams play.

this is not a betting tool.

OK man, you're just ahead of your time. Keep on rockin in the free world.

I'm with you. It's dumb being that some many changes happens with players/coaches each year. So basing it off that is really odd!

ok... the thing to realize is.... this is based purely 100% on imagination.
that is the difference between my poll and this one.

but.... notice #10.... I think this selection involves a little more than imagination...
don't you?

these polls are not honest... the people involved in the polling process are not all honest people... therein lies the problem, as I see it.

I believe a team ought to earn a spot.... and the only way we can achieve this level of honesty is to incorporate a system with absolutely no bias what so ever.

It's not a projection or a prediction. It's a recitation of history with the expectation of repetition based on no evidence or analysis at all.

that is incorrect.

its as simple as it gets.

I guess I can't help myself but I have to ask -- isn't your system biased in favor of the winner of the previous contest? I mean, the previous winner between the two teams is automatically projected to win again. Bias is the main component of your wacky system.

Also, contrary to your assertion, you selectively introduced another level of bias just last week when you declared that Rutgers would defeat Iowa because they were the home team.

That sounds like a Casey Stengel euphemism
"All right everyone, line up alphabetically according to your height."
This is fun...what say you fourteenandone

the projection is based on the result from the previous meeting.
for example:
Iowa beat Northwestern last year... therefore Iowa is the projected winner on Saturday.

its not complicated.

Wisconsin fans have had a pretty simple program from day 1.
Beat LSU, win one of MSU, Mich and OSU and then win out in the west and get the head to head tie breaker.
This week we are playing with house money and maybe we find out how good or not so good we and West really are as compared to Mich and OSU.

this is a must win against Northwestern...
if we lose and Northwestern wins out... in all likelihood, Northwestern wins the West.

had we lost to Wisconsin last season... Wisconsin would have won the West... even with an 8-1 Iowa team.

Northwestern was a 10 win team last year.
this is an absolute must win game.
~thanks

You barely beat Wisconsin last year with a better team IMO and because one of the FOUR Frosh OL's we played stepped on Stave's foot when we were going in for the winning score.
Had we played five more quarters, Iowa was not scoring on our defense and this years defense is better.
I would say you have a 50/50 chance of beating Wisconsin this season, if we're good enough to beat either Mich or OSU (at home off a bye) I'd say we probably win the west.
Frankly, I think Nebby is the tougher game for us and probably the better team.

Boo. By your standards of real season we went 9-2 last year. Boo this man. He is trying to take our wins. BOOOO BOOOOOOOOOO. (YOUR A CLOWN KILROY)

you (Wisconsin) might go 8-1... but if you don't beat Iowa, you ain't winning the West.

we only played 10 games that truly mattered... we were 9-1... our only loss in the Championship game.

btw... I'm not Kilroy

so let me get this straight. you say we got lucky last year, that you basically handed us the game and that we weren't going to score again in 5 additional quarters. also your D is better this year than last... yet you give us a 50/50 shot at winning this year?? are you guys going to score negative points? I mean, according to you, we aren't going to score for the better part of the next 2 years against you guys...

go eat cheese.
