I don't know that I've ever seen an Iowa player step up to leadership of the team and do so in such an honest and straightforward way as Rebraca did after the loss today. That bodes well for the rest of the team if they will follow his leadership, using the lessons of today's loss.

Fran needs a rule when 3s aren't falling that anyone who takes a shot before Rebraca gets a touch in the paint is coming out of the game. Refusing to go to him killed the Wisconsin game and probably cost a W today.
Good post. Rebraca has been a solid scorer and distributor in the post but today it was a bunch of guys jacking shots with no semblance of offensive continuity.

I absolutely agree 100%.

They lost because of defense and giving up 92 points and 60% shooting to a team that should have been overmatched athletically by a P5 team.

Rebraca does well vs teams that don't have true bigs, but not so great vs good teams. We will get Murray back, but he's also dissappeared vs good teams. Kudo's to Rebraca but this team looks like a
ncaa bubble team...maybe 0.500 in B1G and maybe worse.

I never thought I would get to the point where Rebraca would be my favorite player on the team but here we are.

I also never thought that Connor would be our most impactful player on the team but here we are.

We need Kris and Connor back with a very limited rotation to be solid.

If we don’t hit the portal hard, are we the worst team in the big ten next season?!? Assuming we lose Connor, Rebraca, and Kris.

I don't think so. I really believe Fran tried hard to get guys in the portal and just didn't get it to work.
What’s our starting lineup? I can’t imagine Mulvey or Josh O starting so maybe it’s the freshman 4 star Dembele. And the lineup would be something like Ulis, Perkins, Sandfort, McCaffrey, and Dembele?!?

That would be a small lineup but probably that. Still would be better than Minnesota.

So much can change in one year. The incoming freshmen look to be talented. The two big guys, Dembele and Freeman, would have the easiest path to playing time. Most certainly Iowa will bring in a transfer (probably try for at least 2) as well.

Guards
Perkins, Ulis, Bowen, Dix. Newcomer Harding, Nimmers

Wings
PMac, Sandfordt

Bigs
Freeman, Dembele. I don't think Mulvey or Ogundele will ever be real contributors.

So at least 1 more big guy needed, and another good guard or wing as well.

In my best-case scenario, Perkins gets healthy, Bowen takes a step forward that matches his talent and they provide a very good combination of physical guards who can drive, shoot a bit and defend. Ulis contributes to be who he is, a good role player. Dix improves another year removed from the surgery and is a solid player.

I would imagine PMac will show more incremental improvement. Sandfordt I am not sure of. He had a huge opportunity this year to play a bigger role and face-planted. To date, he and Ulis' ceiling has been limited by their inability to make 3's. You can't be good as a perimeter player making under 30% of your 3-point shots.

Just make it to the dance 🕺

All depends on the impact that Freeman, Harding and Dembelle have as Freshman. All could play major roles, especially the two bigs, who may both start. Not as worried about true freshman contributing in basketball as in football. They have played so much high level AAU ball their much more prepared. Harding and young Sandfort could be key reserves as well.
