So I know that a lot who are a little down about the Hawks runner-up B10 finish and the fact that there is certainly an uphill climb at the NCAA tourney if we're going to pull off the upset. That being said, I was looking at the updated recruit rankings and our combined classes for 2016-2017 look really good. Nothing we didn't already know, but seeing it on paper is pretty impressive.

120lbs- #2/#2 Justin Mejia (2017) #5/#7 Justin Renteria (2017) #8/#9 Jack Wagner (2016)
145 #4/#8 Carter Happel (2016)
152 #14/#17 Luke Troy (2017) Lost to an unranked kid but came back in the consolations to place 3rd.
160 #2/#3 Kaleb Young (2016)
170 #2/#2 Alex Marinelli

Pretty impressive list here. I'm sure we'll pick up another couple of kids in the 2017 class. (Lee, Berge and Jacob Warner are on my wish list with fingers crossed) That should be good enough to go on run of multiple titles. Don't want to leave out the solid unranked kids that verbaled as well Rathbun, Malcolm etc. This is a solid recruiting job by our staff. We've got kids from all overcoming in

I figured no one respond about the kids that are committed bit if someone post something about kids we do t have we get 50 Response just can figure it out ???
Everyone is thrilled with Justin and the rest of the recruiting haul. I think with last weekends results and with the focus on how to make up ground next week on PSU most feel we need another horse in the stable is all. I hope to see his 4th title in person next year. He doing any freestyle this summer?

It's nice to see some really top level guys coming in at the mid weights. Iowa has always been so solid at 125 and 133# and this looks to continue with Mejia and Renteria coming.

It seems we've been struggling for a while at 141/157/165, and now we have Marinelli and Young coming, along with Troy the following year. Also Kemerer will be in the mix. Definitely moving in a good direction.

It's never enough for us, that's a good thing, right? Give us one stud recruit we want more & frankly, that is what it is going to take to beat PSU, a room full of kids like your son.

One thing I love about Justin is that he is an absolute hammer on top, and scores a ton of points from the top position. We need more people like that in our lineup, Clark is a hammer on top, but his armbar gets called potentially dangerous right when he puts it in nowadays.. Mejia is an animal from the power half position, similar to Retherfords skill set on top.

This. We have been lacking on top as a team and Justin brings a complete set of skills. Imagine if Gilman were a hammer on top how many more TF's and pins would be added to his already sizable list...

Mr. Meija, not talking about your boy and the other recruits doesn't mean we aren't happy or satisfied. Hell, Justin is on the verge of doing something only one other guy has done in CA. .I think all of the above in the original post are going to bring great things to the team but we have to keep up. Let me put it this way...can you imagine some combination of your boy, Spencer Lee, and Jason Renteria in our lineup? We have an old saying in here...Iron sharpens iron. Those three combined with being able to wrestle Gilman, Clark, Ramos, McD in practice can only help Justin become a champ.

We have a lot of Fabosos on here though...my advice would be to ignore it as much as possible...its the internet.

Jaysdad. I absolutely love watching your son compete. His intensity and high powered offense fits right in with "Iowa style". Justin has quite a mean streak in him, but is clearly a great kid which also fits in perfectly at Iowa. We've got a great group coming in and I'm excited for everyone of them. Don't interpret a lack of press as a lack of excitement. This fan base wants more, more, more. We're sick of finishing 2nd or 3rd. We want multiple titles and we want them yesterday! I think your son will be a huge part of that want becoming a reality in the near future.

Keep it up Justin!

GO HAWKS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Super excited for our commits, and the fans of Iowa are similar to the greats that wrestle for it. We are never satisfied and always want more. We are greedy. I have enjoyed watching Justin's matches and he a greedy wrestler that wants the pin, not leaving a point out there. Saw that in his post match interview after their first team loss since forever. Justin had the pin and did his job, but hurt with the team and wanted revenge. Loved it. He is going to do great things at Iowa, for himself and the school. Can't wait to watch it. There boards are heavy and full of emotion, so be careful with taking anything to heart. People with fake accounts pretending to be Iowa fans and fans that are super critical. It is easy to sit at keyboard and say anything when you do not have to worry about backing any of it up. Superman when they are typing but a coward if ever seen face to face.

You're not getting Lee, blow your nose and get that $hit out of your head!

I'm going to do you a favor and warn you right now that this message board (or likely any message board) is not a good place for family members of the athletes, especially if those athletes are not perfect renditions of Brands or Ironside or Metcalf. Too much anonymity mixed with anger and entitlement from many fans who think the world revolves around them. So, if you want calm, rational voices from folks who love your kid no matter the result on the mat, stay far away from this board. And yes, I recognize the irony of me being a poster on these boards but the point stands. Cheers!

I might be reading too much into it, but don't underestimate the extreme level of excitement around here regarding your son, and the rest of the kids coming in during the next couple years. There are always threads popping up in support, or to update all of us on how they're doing. Hell, I remember following a fairly lengthy thread (and actually watching the dual with the sweet atmosphere on Flo, was it?) They may not get "talked about" frequently, but that's kind of the nature of the beast. In the arms race vs Penn State, Ohio State, and Okey State, there will always be a certain level of "excitement" surrounding potential recruits, to compliment the freaking studs already in the fold! I think that might be the key statement...the thought of, "what our lineup could be".

I'm sure Mr. Mejia is fully capable of making that decision on his own. Actually, if the ignore feature is used properly, this board could be viewed quite easily by any parent. You simply ignore posters at the first sight of a whacked-out post. You quickly limit your viewing to rational, supportive fans, of which there are quite a few on HR.

I'm sure lots of parents lurk on the boards, even if they don't post. And some probably post but don't identify themselves as parents. In any case, I'm sure those who do follow the board know exactly what they're getting into. It's no mystery.

Should consider taking the wrestling board down. It's certainly not helping recruiting. Or maybe they need to do a better job monerating it at least.

Lemonpie, nittanychris, lion8286, and 21guns are all the same kid from Pittsburgh.
Trolls everywhere, brags about it. Probably using mom's device.
