Who are the most important recruits we need to land in this class? (Not counting lee, or Murin)
1. Warner
2. Berge
3. Lyon

Who outside of those 3?

Warner and Berge are the focus. Would be huge if we land both. Lyon and Costello would be great additions also, but they will probably get better offers from others schools. I only see those two coming in if they really wanna be Hawks. Won't be much left for them if we get the first two.

Warner.

That is all…….

Same here. IMO Berge isn't some cant miss recruit. Some of my perception is unfair because of how his brother panned out with Iowa, but nonetheless it still scares me off a bit. If its true he is coveting a lot of money that also scares me off because we have a Nelson Brands that will cost us nothing likely at the same weights. We cant miss at all on the expensive recruits. Give Warner what it takes first. I also wouldn't sleep on Nelson, he very well could be at Berge's level in a few years. After all we know his personality will thrive in the room and we have a track record of his pedigree panning out.

Of the three or so schools that I have heard BB mentioned with, it appears the program with the greatest potential for team success is Iowa, AINEC!

His family can easily make the trip, he's apparently buds with Stoll, his hs coach is a Iowa alum, and he's got a friendship with other Iowa commits. Those seem like a lot of reasons to select Iowa. If $$$ is a major factor... so be it. He'll obviously have to prioritize his desires.

Warner is by far the most important guy on the board. If we don't get him that is a big hit for us. He's a guy that should step in at 197 and be a 3-4x AA.

BB would be an awesome get but just isn't a weight of need right now. Like a poster above said Kem may want to go back down after Sorenson graduates. If BB isn't a hawk my guess is he goes to Purdue to join Parriot.

The improvement of Nelson Brands the last 2 years has been incredible. If he improves a fraction of that his next two season he will be a blue chipper. I'm not sure how much bigger he gets but right now you'd have to believe 49/57.

I would say PSU's chances of team success are greater than Iowa's. He has been linked to PSU, IA, MN, Purdue, NE

How do we know his personality will thrive in the room?

We desperately need a blue-chip 184 or 197 immediately, depending on whether Wilcke can even make 184 now and whether he or Holloway have what it takes to place high at 197. So that's Warner, and hope between the 3 of them they can fill 2 weights.

We need a 149-pounder to replace BS after next year. Maybe Kemerer goes back down, in which case we need a 157. Maybe AM then goes down, in which case we need a 165. Berge fits into that scenario somewhere, the only problem being if neither Kem nor Berge can make 149 in 2018-19, and I'm not sure they can.

If we don't land Berge you have to figure one of Ryan, Turk, Happel will make the move to 49 once BS is gone. If Kemerer goes 49 then Troy will take over 57.

Sounds like Ryan is at 49 starting this year(end of last year) and 141 is in his rear view. It sounds like the cut to 41 is tough on Turk and this may be his last year there also. That leaves Happel left at 41. As good as Berge is I'm sure he can find his way into the lineup at 49/57 at some point. He's 2 years younger than Kem. Not everyone has to be a 4 year starter(Gillman/Brooks).

Berge has said he sees himself as a 149, and others I've talked to said that's the likely scenario. Berge's a bigger talent then Turk or Logan Ryan, so I'd imagine he could/would be a 4 year starter. I'd probably pick him to beat Happel as well if Carter was planning on trying to bump up.

I expect Murin/Happel to be the future of 141. Lee/Teasdale/Wagner/Rathbun have 125/133 locked down for the next 6 or so years.

Turk/Berge(*)/Brands/Kemerer/Marinelli/Troy will have 149-165 covered.

Young/Paddock/Wilcke/Warner(*)/Holloway will man 174-197 I think we need more bodies in this range, specifically a 184lber, doesn't sound like wilcke will be able to make 184 forever, maybe if Warner commits he will be 'forced' to.

Costello(*), Schultz?(*), Stoll at HWT. Looks bare at the moment, hope we get some depth up here and another big recruit like Schultz.

* Not yet committed to being a hawkeye.

Touche! I was using Purdue, Iowa, and Minny in my statement. If those other schools are indeed on his list, my statement is wrong.

No.. no, your statement was right. Spencer Lee agrees with you :)
I hope the lure of being teammates with Lee for four or five years is a big draw.

All the schools have positives in their corner for BB to consider. Not that what I think means shit, but I have a hard time thinking any has more positives than Iowa for the reasons I stated.

Thought I read/heard Iowa has 10 guys coming in the 3rd weekend in October. Any others than Berge, Warner, Lyon, Costello? Maybe current recruits Lee, Teasdale, Murin, Troy? Still leaves a couple.

He would make the trip, only to talk some sense into the other guys seriously considering Iowa!

I know you hope that is the case.

On a serious note... would you commit to a school this fall with an interim head coach? If my kid was a stud high school recruit, not sure I would be comfortable with that.

I'd like info on the situation. Who is the school looking at or what coaches are interested, and how invested the school is in the coach and vice versa

Let's just say Mr Steveson is comfortable with the U. If Eggum isn't the guy, which I think he will be, Gable can open up his recruiting again.

he might feel a little loyalty to help his home state school get through a tough time.

Do I hear Iowa State is in Gable's future?

No, they have a blue chipper in Gremmel. Colbray is also a big dude and may have hard time holding 197. If Kyven can make it all through college it's possible though. You can't tie up that much scholly money at hwt in 2-3 guys.

Ya Gable will be attending Iowa State, about once every other year (if the current schedule stays in place) as a member of the maroon and gold.

I saw Berge with TnT last night. They were at a buffet with Gable talking to Gable Stevenson, soooooooo.....
