Iowas special team play was outstanding in regards to covering kickoffs and punts, but punting hurt us this season. Does not look like we will get a punter this recruiting class, so maybe our current punters will improve.
I think Thorpe is actually the 3rd Columbia punter in a row to go the grad transfer route to the SEC.Even Columbia has a better punter than Iowa does. That's what I take from this.
Wow, Blair, I had no idea that Columbia was "Punter U." But that's insane.... Sounds like KF had better start trying to poach Columbia a lot sooner than waiting for grad transfers.
Have heard he doesn' care about hang time(can't be as bad as last season hitting our coverage in the back of the head tho)Iowa Central has the top JUCO punter in the country.
I so badly wanted a punter in this class. Oh well, it’s entertaining when we rugby style them right up our gunner’s a$$. My son and I just shrug shoulders and laugh. What else can you do....
Iowa Central has the top JUCO punter in the country.
Blair has said Gersonde was hurt. The Hawks would not have wasted a scholly on a guy who couldn't punt. I've got to assume if healthy he will be fine. A big kid.
Gersonde will be fine when he is healthy.
That awesome would be!Is his name Guy Ray and a little oldish?

At Columbia we punt a lot. Cause we suck. Not like oh we're not good, but like lose every game for five straight years, suck
We punt a lot
Well, so does Iowa. My guess is that over the last 10 years, no P5 team has
more punts than we do. Anyone want to check?
Not even close. For example, Rastettler had 55 last year. Other guys were in the 80s.
We're just don't have enough possession changes to punt a lot (i.e. we run and control the clock)
We try to control the clock but we don't. We are usually on the wrong end of T.O.P. Too many 3 and outs. Thus a lot of punts.
Rast was not our only punter. Go check out not just last year, but the previous
9 years. That will put the situation in perspective.
That awesome would be!

You want to spend the time to tally 10 years of data go right ahead. We'll be waiting for your significant findings.
I don't have have a reading comprehension problem; you made the assertion show us the facts to back it up or shut up. I gave you the link to work from - Iowa was above average on number of punts for about half of the last 10 years. The chances that they would be the worst of P5 schools over a 10 year span is about .1%.Do you have a reading comprehension problem? I invited anyone to refute my assertion about the last 10 years (long enough for a solid trend). One
year says nothing about a trend. If you want to accept the challenge, I'll give you a headstart: we were in the top 5 in more than one of those years.
Sorry, but no. Your making that assumption, (and you know what happens when you assume), because your not happy with the offense. Iowa does not punt more then most teams. In fact KF has started going for first down a lot the last couple of years on fourth and short, and had a pretty high success rate as well.Well, so does Iowa. My guess is that over the last 10 years, no P5 team has
more punts than we do. Anyone want to check?
