Sure we do a great job of developing mediocre players into NFL talent. That's obvious when we consistently have a player taken during the first round.

But developing 2-4 players every few years is not going to win championships. This is a team sport. We need a critical mass of talented players if we are ever going to seriously compete for a national championship. It can't continue to be 1-2 good players and 16 okay players with the hopes that an adodtonal 3-4 develop into stars.

We will continue to have a good year then a bunch of 7-5 years then a fluke good year.

Not our strongest year for the O-line, but our D-line has been disappeared the last several games. Zero penetration and pass rush. Our O-line was the biggest let down today, not able to pick up any of the stunts.

Lets see if the combination of this game and the new facilities can give us a spike in recruiting like we had in the mid 2000's after our Orange Bowl appearance.

When have we ever consistently competed for national championships? When have we ever consistently pulled in top 15 classes? It's not going to happen with a snap of fingers or a brand new coach. We are Iowa, we're hard to recruit to.

I believe next year's recruiting class is an average of 2.8 stars (rivals) or something close to that. I sure hope there are some playmakers in that class. And that average should go up in future years, given this year's record and the new facilities. If not, they wasted massive amounts of donated money on the facilities.

This will be interesting.
