With Seth Wallace assuming the role of linebacker coach he's stepping away from the recruiting coordinator job. Any thoughts or ideas on who we might go after to fill this? In my opinion, Seth has done an outstanding job. Picking up the reigns from Eric Johnson, I feel like the approach and recruitment of players was vastly overhauled and has yielded a couple nice classes. Hopefully we get someone who has the skill and energy that Seth brought to the Hawks.

I haven't seen anything where he is giving up the recruiting coordinator job. He was part of the defensive backs coaching staff last year so it's not like he wasn't already a position coach and the recruiting coordinator. I think he will continue as the recruiting coordinator.

I was at a function Tuesday where Seth told a group of about 10-12 of us that he's not going to be recruiting coordinator anymore with taking on the linebacker duties.

Pretty sure Seth is still the recruiting coordinator.

Kelvin would a logical, and excellent, choice. He's been handling the on-campus part of recruiting for the Hawks, for over a year now. Former Hawkeye himself, of course. Really nice, smart, guy. True to his word.

This is a really important how and decision right now for the direction of Iowa football. I truly think we're at a crossroads again. This is like the 3rd time under Kirk where we've reached this precipice, a chance to elevate our program both within the conference and nationally. Things set up nicely to have a very strong 2016 campaign and we should be the favorites to repeat in the west with the schedule and returning players. This makes the 2017 and 2018 recruiting classes extraordinarily important. It's a chance to branch into new territories and chase some kids and some talent that we haven't been able to. Take an Eno Benjamin for example. Very dynamic playmaking running back and not the kind of back we've gotten with regularity at Iowa. Landing some kids like this has tremendous snowball effect. Epenesa was the first. Benjamin has been playing in all star games and spreading his roots throughout Texas getting to know kids across that state and building relationships. His commitment to Iowa could also pay dividends by us getting an audience with other top flight Lukas in that state. It only takes one or two great classes and suddenly you've elevated your program to where Wisconsin was a few years ago and where Michigan State is now. This is a huge opportunity for Iowa football. Kirk has missed out for one reason or another on this opportunity a couple of times. It's time to cash this one and leave a legacy at Iowa that might go unrivalled.

Agree, the next recruiting coordinator is going to be important if we are to keep moving up, maybe just to keep the status quo.

I'm fine with Kelvin Bell, but I think this is a big transition and a big time for Iowa football. I hope Bell is up to the task and has the energy and ideas and drive to take those program forward. It's a huge opportunity right now. This coaching change came at a bad time for us. Can't blame him for wanting the dc job, but it really hurt our continuity.

Credit to Bell for sealing the deal with Toks when Jim Reid left...KF mentioned the importance of having Bell fill in for Reid in the recruitment of Toks...

Don't understand what you mean by the dc job? Wallace is getting the job of coaching the lbers. Under the circumstances, I'd say the best thing for continuity would be Bell.
