Does anyone have a read on Waggoner or is it pretty much guesswork at this point?

You would think it's a good sign that he has made several visits to games and other events, BUT we could have said the same thing about a certain Michigan WR.

If the coaches are on their A game, they offer Sam Ingoli as a package deal with Waggoner. Full rides for both as long as JW signs with Iowa since Sam lives w/ the Waggoner family from the articles I've seen.

Sam is a big bodied wide receiver at 6' 5" or move him to another position such as tight end. Great story if both end up playing for Iowa together.

I like the TE and 2 DB's out of Chicago for next years class. Get that Chicago pipeline going.

I have heard the Sam I story and have alot of respect for the Waggoner family. I know nothing of him but for 6-5 he seems to move really well with good hands. I have to believe at minimum we could make a great TE out of him and if the speed is there 6-5 on the outside sounds too good.

Blair brooks this is 3rd time he has been to a game.. is he a walk-on or offer worthy.
I read an article about him today. He said that he has a walk on, or grey shirt opportunity at this point, but the coaches told him to be patient and that they were still evaluating players at his position.

The Iowa track coach offered for long jump. Said the track coach doesn't mind if he plays both sports. South Dakota basically said the same thing.

Offered what for long jump?
Guessing less than 5% as track has 11.7 ships for about 50 guys.
With that said blair looks like a good athlete and worth a grey shirt type of deal for fball.

"A multi-sport star and a senior at Marion High School, Blair Brooks currently has scholarship offers for football from South Dakota and Western Illinois, along with an offer in track and field from the University of Iowa."

So no clue about the % except him and the coach. Got it.
Considering his current long jump wouldnt place for any points in the big 10 meet im guessing 5%.

do we even have enough scholarships for all them boys??? why invite that many? it like shooting ducks ? holy hell thats lot of kids. yikes hope kirk knows what hes doing because i dont.

Yup, no specifics in the article. Didn't want to link the article (not sure what the policy is regarding that here). But it is on the first page of the All Hawkeyes site.

No, of course not. Many of the 2018 kids that don't have offers will be preferred walk-on candidates. The 2019 kids they're still evaluating. A couple more could eventually get offers, but most will not.

Iowa has offered him a preferred walk-on spot and said there MIGHT be a grayshirt opportunity down the road, but has not yet offered that option at this point.

The track team has offered scholarship money, but hasn't said anything specific yet as far as %'s.

That's from Blair Brooks this morning.

Thanks blair.
Again i think blair brooks is the kind of athlete iowa has great success with and ive heard hes a good kid and teammate.
Just a realist that says a kid long jumping 21’ isn’t going to get much aid offered when 8th place in the big 10 is jumping 24’.

Wonder if new offer Ben VanSumeren will be visiting too? He looks like a big time Iowa lean. 6'3", 228 lbs and runs a 4.56 40. I see that they want him at LB. I like that. I loved his crackbacks on his tape.

What is the Sam Ingoli story? Is this similar to Pete Jok or Amari Darboh?

Any chance they reach out to the Audobon kicker who is a foreign exchange student from Finland? 6'4" with a really big leg. It is his first year kicking an American football. Sounds like he kicks it through the opposing uprights on Kick-offs a la Koehn.

I'd give him my house if he could punt.

Yes, I like lb for him also. But where do you get he's a big time Iowa lean? Wondering if you have read that somewhere?

We offered yesterday and 6 analysts from the "crystal ball" site picked him to choose the Hawks over Minnesota, Harvard, Missouri and Columbia among others.

Nothing scheduled yet, according to Ben this morning.

He's never been to Iowa City before FWIW. Iowa saw him at their satellite camp in the Detroit area in June.

Davenport Central teammates RB Jatoviay Hill & OL/DL Maurice Hughes were there yesterday too.

Julian Vandervelde is a line coach at Central now (first yr. I think?). I was asking him why he hadn't got him (Hughes) any Iowa interest yet. He laughed and said he doesn't have that kind of 'pull'. I'm sure Julian has improved this 'raw', large (6'5, 330?) kids technique quite a bit. Central has an asst. principle (Charlie Driscoll) who is/was a world powerlifting champ and has started working with the kids and is getting the Central kids lifting ridiculous amounts of weight. Central always has talent, they have found some people to develop it.
