NCAA needs to add a rule to the review to make coaches think twice about throwing it and abusing it as a timeout. Simply add that if you throw the brick and lose that the opposing wrestler picks what position you wrestle from on the restart. Similar to the injury timeout. I don’t know the percentage of reviews over turned ,but it’s low. It’s changed the sport from a conditioning standpoint a ton.

I don't disagree. Most sports have a penalty attached to a lost review. Even in Freestyle, your opponent gets a point for a lost challenge.

I think a big problem is the referee initiating their own review. A large number of reviews come from the referee looking at their own calls without a brick being thrown. The referee initiated review should be totally removed from the sport. If it is a bad call, let the coach throw the brick.

I think the only referee initiated reviews should be end of period if they are unsure about if time expired before a scoring sequence.

The injury timeout needs to be addressed. That should be set in stone. Personally, one ref told PSU bench to back off while he assessed Kasak with an apparent head injury and between him and Kasak decided to not ask for trainer, meaning his opponent was not given choice of position after stoppage. Then a referee stopped Teemer match for an apparent leg injury but seemed like when Teemer thought about it and decided he wanted to wrestle through it without a trainer, the referee said no and that it was a injury timeout giving his opponent choice of position. That cost Teemer the match and when he decided he didn't want injury timeout, that should have been the end of it.

Even in that scenario I think the review should come from a challenge brick being thrown. We have two officials on the mat. Make the call and stick with it.

It was worse than that because Teemer was poked in the eye. Screw job

There are clearly issues, some people understand, some they do NOT!!! Most get the CONDITIONING aspect of the sport being effected!!! You can clearly see that some coaches will use the rule to get their wrestler a "lunger" !!!

The biggest point MOST do NOT get however is the possible effect on the situation!!! For example, IF wrestler A is in a scramble and is awarded THREEEE, he might just "hold his position" thinking he has the match won or TD in hand etc.... He may not continue to fight or work because of the REFs call. I hope this makes perfect sense to everyone!?!?!?

There was a challenge just this past week that was a perfect example(I forget the match, but someone will know!!!) where a winning TD was given( might of been sudden Victory?) then a challenge brick is thrown. In that example, the wrestler could get screwed because he believed he won, REF awarded points and blew whistle to STOP match!!!

Had the REF not awarded points and STOPPED the match. kid could keep wrestling to secure the TD!!! They need to eliminate all challenges in these types of situations!!!

There is also an issue say when a man is on TOP and has the other guy flat. Could have a TWOOO on one, leg in etc.... Coach throws the brick, STOPS action, gets bottom guy a new start!!!

One heavyweight match had that happen. Guy is flat and the brick comes in. Gave his guy a fresh start.

Also ,I'm pretty sure the guy should've had a caution in the match Gabe lost in ride outs. Looked clear as day. Anyone catch that it was it clean?
