RFK doing some good?

This. Any good he might do will be buried by the bad.
Go to Amazon.com and look for yourself. JFC. You are a man child on this issue. If you made the choice to live in an area that doesn't even get mail that is your decision. You need a tissue?
ummm Amazon accepts EBT from maybe 20 states. You have to pay $7/month. The food is more expensive…in many cases, far more expensive, than at a grocery store.

But other than that…brilliant.

Amazon isn't the only option. Again, if you want something for free you might have to put some effort into it. $7 for quite a bit of food to be shipped to you seems reasonable don't you think? Can't blame the government for everything.

Nobody’s blaming the govt for anything. You’re twisting yourself into a pretzel to blame poor people.

And what other options exist? Just curious.

Sure, but mandate the grocery stores first. Right now the inner city is filled with food deserts and the only place to buy stuff is at the convivence store. And they tend not to carry organic produce...
You can get rice and a few other filler type items at convenience stores.

It’s ALL you’ve done.

Ever heard of Dollar General?

BTW, I checked. A pound of 80% ground meat costs $1 more from Amazon than from Aldi.
Dollar general has some healthy alternatives. Education is lacking on what constitutes a better diet.

Not necessarily but I know they want to know immediately the number of “hot lunches” they need for a day. They despise waste.

That's just good product management. It makes me wonder if selection and preparation of product they aren't accustomed to plays a part in waste as well.

It's an interesting predicament to me, because I don't know how much I'm concerned with manageable waste vs the alternative of successfully feeding children garbage.

It all comes back to parents teaching kids how to eat. My parents made me try everything. Now parents relent to child refusals way to quickly.

We threw away tons of healthy food during Obama because kids wouldn’t eat it.
This is the downside. I have one kid who's an extremely picky eater, and has chosen on many occasions to go hungry rather than eat what was served. Kids have no problem throwing away food, waiting another 4-5 hours until they eat again.

I might be ignorant, but there are areas that the only food that can be bought is junk food from convenience stores? More and more convenience stores like Kwik Star/Trip are damn near small grocery stores. I'd rather give free bus passes and food stamps that don't buy junk food, so people can get to real stores for groceries, than using food stamps for bags of unhealthy junk food
I’ve helped at a food pantry on a semi regular basis. Sometimes food gets sent home with the staff because the customers don’t know what to do with it. Sourdough bread, you can’t give it away. They don’t know what to do with it cause it isn’t sandwich bread. Many poor people straight up don’t know how to cook. The food pantry I have worked at had tried hosting cooking classes but didn’t get a great response.
It is a small pantry so they are connected to larger food banks for support. The result is you have to take what they give you and a lot of it is junk food. They try an parcel it out but there is so much. A whole wall is dedicated to junk foods. Some it gets put toward after school programs.

No just subsidize/tax incentivize them
How about a tax on "unhealthy" foods - making good food more competitive and profitable?

What counts as "unhealthy food"? We have lots of really smart people who study that stuff. I'm not willing to believe we can't do a decent job of figuring that out. It's certainly not a good reason to do nothing.

I have known a few people that put the plate in the fridge and the kid can try again at breakfast. "Can I have a waffle too?" "Sure, as soon as you finish the dinner your mom made for you." I think we, as Americans, do a horrible job of teaching kids how to eat. We have people who don't even know what they're missing or they could be missing out on what would be their favorite food ever because they are too scared to try something.

Raw milk can contain bacteria that can make people sick. I'm not sure why anyone would look at a beneficial life-changing advancement like pasteurization, and think "No, we should go back to where we served it straight outta the teat!".
I would absolutely agree. I would also add that allowing something isn't the same as requiring it, and the cost of raw milk will undoubtedly be higher. I assume there will be a choice if it's offered.

We had a big asparagus patch in our yard growing up. No pic mom didn’t like it the way it cooked as a kid, so we never had it. Tried to kill it several times. First time I had asparagus was in college. Ate it raw, wasn’t bad, so I learned to fix it roasted.

I guess that's where views and opinions start to diverge. What responsibility does/should the government have to save people from themselves?

Maybe the biggest related example could be requiring seatbelts. Should the government require people to wear seatbelts, or just make sure that seatbelts are provided, and that everyone knows the risks, and then leave them to it? Same thing with this milk - make sure everyone knows the risks, and then stay out of it?

I'd be good with that, except/until peoples' individual choices start endangering the rest of us - or costing us money. An idiot crashes without a seatbelt, and without insurance, and they're in intensive care running up a bill that they can never pay, so the rest of us eat that cost. Same with coming down with some kind of brain amoeba or whatever from raw milk. I shouldn't have to help chip in on funding their stupidity. So, maybe we let them do what they want, but just as long as they're on their own when/if it bites them in the ass.

Just seems easier and cheaper to say "no, you know what, drinking raw milk is stupid and it can make you sick, so don't do that! And to help make it easy for you, producers aren't allowed to sell it to you - they'll need to pasteurize it like normal."

Otherwise, we open up letting people have the choice to do a whole lot of stupid things - like choosing to use asbestos insulation if they think it keeps their house warmer, or lead-based paint if they really like the color, or order their chicken medium-rare at a restaurant, or 100s of other things that get regulated because people - as a group - are stupid and can't be trusted to make good decisions for themselves.

You can buy raw milk from any one of about 400 vending machines in Switzerland. Is it safe to assume the Swiss are all dead now?

I don't know, I've never been to Switzerland. Maybe they are? That would be a terrible hellscape: hundreds of thousands of people all laying on the ground in a puddle of dirt-speckled, off-white milk.

I don't think the bar for prohibiting something should be "Is everybody dead?"

To my earlier comparison - not everyone who's ever driven without a seatbelt is dead, but we still regulate/require that.

Everyone has their own line for where self-government ends and looking out for the imbeciles begins.

To cut back on the safety net, so we can reduce taxes for rich people and corporations, we need for more old and sick people to die. And we need to deport people because these young immigrants have more children, who are also expensive.

Another pandemic might be useful, as long as we avoid shutdowns and supply chain disruptions.

Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said Tuesday that he would remove the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's recommendation for children and healthy pregnant women to get vaccinated for COVID-19.

Oh my goodness!! Better than I could have imagined!!! Trump and RFK working to rid our country of the scourge of vaccines!!

Saving Americans from their own poor health decisions!!

Now I can hope the rumors are true that Influenza and MMR are next!!! Make America immunity strong again!!!! We didn’t need vaccines for hundreds of years!!

Covid vaccines were more useless than tits on a turnip and didn't save anyone.

Enjoy your myocarditis.

Sometimes, it’s best to just drink from the teat. 😜
