Do you think it's possible they just stole Iowa's NCAA bid IF Iowa would have beaten Indiana? I know we felt pretty good about being in if Iowa would have won one game in the BTT. Beating Indiana and still not making it in would have REALLY SUCKED!

It is possible, but a lot of people felt Iowa needed two wins in the Big 10 tourney.

Per ESPN, Iowa's RPI is 81. Rhode lsland is 37. The RPI is definitely not the end all, but is rare to see a school get in the tourney with an RPI greater than 60.

As a basketball fan, I would still rather come up short than never be in the picture that last month or two of the season. Especially when the talent on the roster is trending upward.

Maybe, but that's another thing about the tourney: It's not about the best teams. Iowa...hell, Rutgers...would dominate Rhode Island and VCU--just to mention two of many--seven days a week. Sure, it's cool that teams like that are included, but not so cool when they nudge your team out.

BTW: RPI is, and always has been, BS. You really think Rhode Island is 40 spots better than Iowa because the RPI says so? And because the RPI is so awful, the committee is finally ditching it next year--about 20 years later than it should have happened.

Compare Iowa's top rpi 50 wins, and how many away wins in that list, and Iowa's sos to VCU's.

Same issue - if the committee only looks at Iowa's RPI, then they are probably out. If, like we have heard, they look at sos and top 50 wins, and what Iowa did with their schedule, then who knows.
