We are 5 games in; in 3 days the season is half over. N'w and Iowa have shocked most everyone. Ohio State and Mich State look shaky and suddenly Michigan looks like a huge threat in the East.

If I were to pick right now, I say Northwestern wins the West, Ohio State the East, with Ohio State winning the B1G Championship.

Oh course, I hope I am completely wrong. Who knows what will happen. Injuries and turnovers have been a key story for so many teams so far this year. I, like most of you, am just glad Iowa is relevant and in the conversation.
So, right now, based on what you have seen, who wins the West, the East and the B1G title?

It will go like this ... Hawks will lose to N'west or Indiana or some crap team like that just because it's the right thing to do vs this garbage schedule.
Qualify for Big 10 title game early
Lose at Nebraska
Lose big time vs OhioSt in Indy
Lose even bigger time vs Bama in the Outback or something like that

Enjoy now. it will change ... it's unreal to have an early schedule like this !!! but reality will set in

shocked ? maybe the 57 yd FG fg to beat Pitt at home , without their best player but otherwise 100 teams would be 5-0 with this schedule

Their best player had over 100 yds receiving. But thanks for trying.

Remember, Iowa was also without their best defensive player as well as the starting RB. I believe there were other injuries as well.

Also, Pitt looks like they are quite formidable. Troll somewhere else

Iowa v Michigan.

The media would have a blast with this match-up. The Jake vs. CJ angle would obviously get a ton of play. Would love to see it. What once seemed like a virtually impossible match-up in the title game suddenly looks plausible. However, I still think tOSU runs the table. I do think Michigan beats NW on Saturday, but I don't think they have the firepower to hang with a focused tOSU team, which has been sloppy at times this year. They'll be up for UM, and I think they'll beat them handily.

According to Sagarin's ratings, Iowa has played the 35th most difficult schedule (which includes #173 N. Texas). Michigan has played 31st toughtest schedule, OSU 74th, NW 56th, Wis 99th, MSU 83rd, Neb 45th, PSU 104th, IL 79th. So you can cry about Iowa's schedule so far, but it is comparable or tougher than most in the Big 10. By the way, IL State is ranked is ranked at #78 in the Sagarin rankings, being ahead of Maryland and Purdue. Chew on that one.

Iowa vs. a team from the East. Bring it on.

And SOS, like almost every other stat besides wins and losses, is a meaningless guess that some people like to use because they have no concrete way to mitigate their own shortcomings. Sad for them.

I know you're just a troll and not really an Iowa fan. But ESPN has Iowa's current SOS sitting at 38th in the country right now, just behind NW and Wisconsin; who are sitting at 34th and 30th right now.

Are you a Husker fan? You smell of being a jealous Husker fan. FYI, Nebraska's SOS is sitting at 43rd right now.

I would agree with this.

The west is a toss up right now but Iowa and Wisconsin have the best path to the title game. It is going to be Ohio State from the East.

Hard to say in the West as I think it's still pretty wide open with Wisc., NW, and Iowa probably having the current advantage. In the East I just can't get over this feeling that OSU is just "coasting" at this point and when ish gets real they will crank it up. Just too much talent on that team.

Define "handily."

Michigan's defense is too good to give up a ton of points to anyone.

Also, as good as OSU has been recently, and as bad as Michigan was under Hoke, the last 2 games between them have been EXTREMELY competitive.

OSU also has a great D, so I could see a Tressel-like score of 14-0 or something similar, but it sure as hell isn't going to be 35-7 or anything remotely close to a blowout.

I think tOSU beats them by a couple of scores. I don't expect a total blow-out. Those are pretty unusual in rivalry series like this one, regardless of the records. But tOSU does have superior talent, and while Michigan's defense is good, tOSU has potential to be extremely explosive on offense. They have been in an offensive funk recently, but I suspect some of their problems are related to complacency. I expect a very good offensive performance out of tOSU against Michigan.

nw vs. tosu

I'm not sold on nw, but I think they beat the Hawks and wisky to give them the tiebreaker over both.
As for tosu looking pedestrian recently, I see them shaking that off. Unfortunately it won't last and they will be firing on all cylinders soon.

NW is not winning at Wisconson AND Michigan. Very likely neither of them. I think they end up with 3 or 4 losses.

The biggest threat to Iowa is Wisconsin running the table to get to 7-1, with Iowa losing at Ryan Field and then another that they shouldn't (Indiana?). I still have the sneaking suspicion that this is the year that the Gophers FINALLY get the Axe back. Just like they put all of their eggs into the Iowa game last year, they'll do the same for Bucky this year. I just don't want to see some convoluted tiebreaker come into play with a bunch of teams tied at 6-2. I really hope that some team wins it outright (preferably Iowa).

Wisky will not run the table.
Stave is grossly overrated and their run game is shaky with Clement.
They will lose again

According to Sagarin, Iowa's schedule to this point is ranked 35th, so obviously there are many teams who have played even lighter than your perceived garbage schedule.

Nebby is st
They play nobody with a pulse, just like us. Who's going to beat them? They've lost 8 home games in the last 12 seasons (3 of them to us) and play an awful Nebraska, bad Minnesota, and horrible Maryland teams on the road. Purdue and Rutgers at home are guaranteed wins. That leaves NW at Camp Randall and at Ill.

Their D is good enough to beat all of those teams by itself. In case you haven't noticed, NW's offense is pretty bad as well (with equally terrible QB play), and 75% of the people here have them winning the division. Wisconsin is at least as good of a football team as NW is.

Nebby is still dangerous. This weekend could well be their season. They will come to play so dont be surprised if they pull the mild upset in LNK.
Wisky reminds me alot of the Hawks..will get tripped up by a team they should beat.

Iowa vs. Ohio State

Ohio State wins in a VERY tight contest where Zeke Elliott breaks one in the 4th Qtr. for the win. Iowa goes to the Rose Bowl and defeats Stanford for a VERY special end to a VERY special year.

If Wisconsin beats Nebraska then I could still see Wisconsin vs Ohio State

Northwestern vs Ohio State if Wisconsin loses to Nebby

I can see Iowa losing to NW, Indiana, and Nebraska as much as that sickens me.

100 teams would be 5-0 with the 35th ranked toughest schedule? Just on pure numbers that doesn't seem to compute.
