Rings of power finale

I had a family member just ask if I had watched the series since I loved Game of Thrones and the original Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Guess I shouldn’t start it! Glad I didn’t waste my time up to this point.

I’ve watched the whole series so far simply because I didn’t have much else to watch once house of the dragon was over and needed something to get me to football. The show is very visually pleasing but I found my mind wandering throughout. I’m still not 100% what has been going on.

I am a big fantasy, sword and sorcery, dragons nerd. Willing to give a pass on some bad stuff and sit through some bad productions. This is maybe the worst series I've seen from this source material. Lower than dwarf shit. Haven't been able to finish any of the episodes in this season. Horribly disjointed writing and terrible pacing. Just terrible. Also the sound production makes it almost impossible to follow what they are saying. 2 thumbs down and the producers need defenestrated.

It’s not great but it’s not horrible. I haven’t finished season two yet, so I’ll hold off judging until I do.

I will say that now I’ve watched both seasons and I like the series, but I’m a nerd.

Not a huge LOTR’s fan, but from what I’ve gathered the show has basically shit on a lot of source material in the same vein as acolyte with Star Wars and the fans don’t care for it shockingly. Stay true to the source material, and the fans will watch.

So interesting sidebar. I also loved GOT and House of the Dragon. When we were in Italy touring the ruins in Rome and Pompeii a few weeks ago I couldn't help but notice the innumerable historical parallels between ancient Rome and GOT. The story writers obviously spent a lot of time researching the history and then incorporating those elements into the series.

Just finished season two. I enjoyed it. I thought they did a good job of linking the series to the trilogy. I actually got chills when Gandalf remembered his name.
