Last week, an old high school friend of mine posted to facebook a ticket stub from our freshman year in college. A handful of us had gone to see them in Orlando. It was a somewhat special day - it was Bill Wyman's 45th birthday.
One of the reasons we went to the show was because the Stones were getting up there in years, and you didn't really know how much longer they'd be able to go on the road.
So we jumped the gun by, at least, 4 decades. Oh well, at least we saw a great show.

Opening acts...Henry Paul Band, Van Halen.
Ticket Price...$15 (plus 60 cents tax, for an outrageous $15.60.

Top Hundy.

“I’m not sure I should say it, but they’re a blues cover band, that’s sort of what the Stones are.”

The Stones like the Beatles were able to write great songs. They get extra credit for longevity and giving credit to the Bluesmen that influenced them.

One of the greatest rock intros -

Name off more bands for me to list off. Of course I know bands, and am planning on a few more today. So, give me as many as you can and Ill get everyone of them down if you want them done. Go Royals!

So...just to be clear...you want us to name bands?

That's it.

Just name bands.

And then you will start new threads...one at a time...with the name of those bands?

And I guess hilarity ensues somehow?

You are an amazing poster! That's some seriously creative thinking!

I was there. Van Halen was sloppy drunk and played like crap and Dave complained that the Stones should have been opening for them. I lost a lot of respect for VH after that.

They were still hung over from their CR show just 3 days prior.

The CR concert was the wildest, out of control concert of theirs I had ever seen (I saw Dave era VH over 20 times). CR was the end of the Fair Warning tour, but they added the two Stones gigs after. The band itself wasn't all that happy about it, but knew they couldn't pass up the Stones dates.

They trashed the arena/hotel big time. They were spent. Wrote a check for the damages, and left town.

Three days later, they did the two Stones shows. The back cover photo on Diver Down is from one of those two shows.

True. Diamond Dave showed his ass, figuratively; EVH did so literally, mooning the crowd.

When Keith Richards discovered open tunings these guys created rock history....
